Position Summary

The Marketing & Community Relations Specialist supports local marketing, communications, and outreach efforts for Rivers Health in alignment with Marshall Health Network brand and engagement strategies. This role coordinates community relations initiatives, manages social media and website content, supports internal communications, and assists with promotional activities that strengthen visibility, patient engagement, and community connection.

Working closely with Rivers Health leadership as part of the Marshall Health Network marketing team, the position helps ensure consistent branding, effective communication, and a positive public presence through professional interaction with patients, community partners, vendors, and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support local marketing, communications, and community engagement initiatives in alignment with Marshall Health Network brand standards, marketing strategies, and organizational priorities.
  • Work alongside MHN Marketing and Rivers Health leadership to develop and implement advertising, promotional campaigns, and community outreach efforts across print, digital, social, broadcast, and on-site platforms.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support community-facing events including health fairs, open houses, speaking engagements, employee programs, and outreach activities that strengthen community awareness and engagement.
  • Serve as a representative of Rivers Health at community events and partnership activities, building relationships with local organizations, businesses, civic groups, and community agencies.
  • Coordinate hospital participation in community presentations and educational opportunities, including recruitment and scheduling of speakers and staff participants.
  • Assist with development of communication materials including media statements, presentations, town hall materials, press releases, and internal communications in support of hospital leadership.
  • Support website updates, social media content, and digital engagement efforts for Rivers Health.
  • Coordinate production and distribution of marketing collateral, signage, digital content, advertisements, and promotional materials in partnership with creative, media, and agency partners.
  • Assist with photography and visual content collection for use in publications, social media, news releases, and promotional campaigns.
  • Support coordination of charitable initiatives, sponsorships, donation requests, and related promotional activities.
  • Maintain organized project workflows and provide regular updates on marketing and outreach initiatives to hospital leadership.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training activities, and organizational initiatives while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and brand standards.
  • Perform other related or similar duties as assigned.

Reports To: Vice President, Marketing & Communications

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Advertising, Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • One to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with physicians, employees, community partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing reports, presentations, promotional materials, and community outreach communications.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and execute initiatives with attention to detail.
  • Experience coordinating events, community engagement activities, and marketing initiatives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, digital collaboration tools, social media platforms, and website content management systems.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an integrated marketing and communications team.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

This position is based at Rivers Health in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and requires regular on-site presence to effectively perform the duties of the role.
