Position Summary

The Manager, Technical Services – Network & Unified Communications provides operational and technical leadership for Marshall Health Network’s enterprise network, telecommunications, and unified communications infrastructure.

This position is responsible for the availability, reliability, security, performance, and ongoing modernization of the technologies that provide connectivity and communication across MHN. The manager leads the teams responsible for wired and wireless networking, network infrastructure, telecommunications, and unified communications across hospitals, ambulatory locations, administrative facilities, and other MHN sites.

This role provides both technical and people leadership, with a focus on developing the team, maintaining reliable technology services, reducing technical risk, improving resiliency, and supporting MHN’s overall infrastructure strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee enterprise LAN, WAN, and campus network infrastructure.
  • Manage Cisco routing and switching platforms and related network technologies.
  • Oversee enterprise wireless infrastructure, including wireless controllers and access points.
  • Ensure reliable network connectivity between hospitals, ambulatory locations, data centers, cloud environments, and external partners.
  • Oversee telecommunications and unified communications infrastructure, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), voice gateways, SIP services, and related platforms.
  • Manage cloud-based telephony and collaboration technologies, including Cisco Webex and related communication services.
  • Oversee PSTN connectivity, carrier services, circuits, SIP trunks, DID management, and telecommunications vendors.
  • Develop and maintain network segmentation, resiliency, redundancy, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and lifecycle management strategies.
  • Establish and maintain network and telecommunications standards, architecture, documentation, and technology roadmaps.
  • Work with Information Security to ensure network and communications technologies meet organizational cybersecurity requirements.
  • Provide leadership for incident, problem, change, and major outage management related to network and telecommunications services.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning for network and communications services.
  • Oversee hardware and software lifecycle planning, capital planning, budgeting, licensing, maintenance agreements, and vendor management.
  • Provide technical leadership for network and telecommunications projects, facility expansions, acquisitions, integrations, and technology modernization initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain operational standards, processes, documentation, monitoring, and escalation procedures.
  • Lead staff development, workload prioritization, performance management, and technical competency development within the Network and Telecommunications teams.
  • Work closely with Infrastructure, End User Computing, Information Security, Applications, Clinical Technology, Facilities, vendors, and organizational leadership to support the operational and clinical needs of MHN.
  • Maintain current knowledge of network, telecommunications, and unified communications technologies and identify opportunities for improvement and modernization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • An equivalent combination of education, professional certification, and progressively responsible experience will be considered.
  • Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise technology infrastructure, with demonstrated expertise in network and/or telecommunications technologies.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory, management, or significant technical leadership experience in a complex enterprise environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with enterprise network infrastructure and related technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco networking and unified communications technologies.
  • Experience with vendor management, technology projects, budgets, and hardware/software lifecycle management.
  • Experience in a complex, multi-site enterprise environment.
  • Healthcare technology experience.
About the Position

The Manager, Technical Services – Network & Unified Communications reports to the AVP of Technical Services and works alongside the Manager, Technical Services responsible for Data Center and End User Computing services.

Together, these leaders support highly available, standardized, secure, and supportable technology services across Marshall Health Network. The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge and people leadership skills, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and support reliable technology services across a complex healthcare environment.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Systems, or a related discipline
  • Equivalent combination of education, professional certification, and progressively responsible experience may be considered
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise technology infrastructure, including network or telecommunications expertise
  • At least three years of supervisory, management, or significant technical leadership experience in a complex enterprise environment
  • Experience with enterprise network infrastructure and related technologies
  • Experience with Cisco networking and unified communications technologies
  • Experience with vendor management, technology projects, budgets, and hardware/software lifecycle management
  • Experience in a complex, multi-site enterprise environment
  • Healthcare technology experience
