Marshall Health Network is seeking a full-time Financial Analyst to join the MHN Budget Department. This position supports financial planning and analysis across Marshall Health Network, including Cabell Huntington Hospital, St. Mary's Medical Center, Rivers Health, and Marshall Health.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role works closely with department leaders to support budgeting, financial reporting, productivity initiatives, and process improvement.
Position SummaryThe Financial Analyst prepares financial reports, maintains budgeting and reporting systems, supports annual budget development, and assists operational leaders with financial analysis and productivity initiatives. This position also responds to financial data requests while promoting accurate reporting, process consistency, and continuous improvement.
Essential Responsibilities- Prepare and distribute monthly actual-to-budget departmental reports.
- Prepare and submit monthly B9 data and quarterly Vizient ODB data.
- Maintain and update budgeting and reporting software (Axiom).
- Assist department leaders with the annual budgeting process.
- Establish annual productivity targets and support department leaders with the PEAK productivity application.
- Respond to ad hoc financial reporting and analysis requests from internal and external stakeholders.
- Review reports and analyses for accuracy prior to distribution.
- Utilize automation and data warehousing tools to improve processes and reduce manual errors.
- Develop standardized financial processes and internal controls.
- Provide financial support, education, and training to department leaders and staff.
- Clarify requests to ensure accurate and efficient completion of financial analyses.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality when working with sensitive financial information.
- Build collaborative relationships and provide outstanding customer service to financial stakeholders.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting new initiatives and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Hospital Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in healthcare finance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Hospital Administration, or related field
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in healthcare finance
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience maintaining and updating budgeting and reporting software (Axiom)
- Experience supporting PEAK productivity application and establishing productivity targets
- Experience preparing and submitting B9 data and Vizient ODB data
- Familiarity with automation and data warehousing tools to improve processes
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and collaborate with department leaders and staff
