Position Summary

Marshall Health Network is seeking a Desktop Engineer to lead the design, support, and continuous improvement of the organization's endpoint computing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of desktop computers, thin clients, mobile devices, and other endpoint technologies used across the health system.

The Desktop Engineer partners with IT teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to implement enterprise technology solutions, improve endpoint management processes, support disaster recovery planning, and maintain a secure, efficient computing environment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead the administration and support of the organization's endpoint and mobile device environment.
  • Design, implement, and maintain endpoint management solutions and deployment processes.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and standardize desktop hardware and endpoint technologies.
  • Manage endpoint operating system deployments, updates, patching, and security configurations.
  • Support Microsoft Windows desktop technologies, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related infrastructure.
  • Administer endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM, or similar platforms.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and other automation solutions.
  • Monitor endpoint performance, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support software packaging, deployment, licensing, and application compatibility testing.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation for endpoint systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, help desk, clinical, and business teams on technology initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and escalation support for complex desktop and endpoint issues.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements that enhance security, efficiency, and user experience.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders on endpoint-related projects and implementations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Industry certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or similar certifications are preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting enterprise endpoint infrastructure and desktop technologies.
  • Healthcare or hospital IT experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Active Directory environments.
  • Experience with endpoint management platforms such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM, MECM, or similar tools.
  • Experience developing PowerShell scripts and automating administrative tasks.
  • Knowledge of desktop hardware, mobile devices, software deployment, and endpoint security best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and endpoint backup strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex technical projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and operational teams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Working Conditions

This position requires regular computer use and the ability to move throughout Marshall Health Network facilities to support technology needs. Occasional lifting of equipment up to 35 pounds may be required.
