As a Metrology Overlay Process Development Engineer you will be primarily responsible for starting up, developing, and optimizing the overlay metrology processes used for DRAM photolithography process flows. Overlay metrology is a critical need within the semiconductor industry, and in this position your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:• Driving the understanding of new metrology technology and measurement techniques to ensure that our overlay measurement capabilities meet the precision, accuracy, and throughput required to meet our device overlay roadmaps• Partnering with metrology equipment vendors on continuous improvement of software/hardware and development of overlay techniques to support lithography process characterization, process optimization, and process control• Optimizing and maintaining the calibration of metrology systems that support our technology development• Working closely with process development and process integration engineers to optimize measurements for multiple device process flows and layer stacks• Developing applications on next generation processes and technologies within Fab 4 and qualification for technology transfers to production fabs• Evaluations of new and innovative metrology tools to determine the lowest Cost of ownership solutions with the highest accuracy and precision for deployment in R&D and global manufacturing• Crafting and optimizing the layout of metrology targets to enable measurement capability and improve measurement quality
Successful candidates for this position will have:• 3 years in semiconductor industry with overlay experience• Strong understanding of key overlay lithography process metrics needed for characterization, optimization, and line control• Experience with image and diffraction based overlay/registration post lithography, SEM and scatterometry/OCD based overlay/pupil based overlay/registration post etch• Process and equipment related experience in instrumentation and calibration procedures• Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes (diffusion, CVD, Etch, Lithography) and device process flows (NAND, DRAM)• Excellent digital literacy including MS Office and JMP and Python• Practical experience using AI (CoPilot, Claude Code, and other AI tools) to enable fast solutions• Strong data analysis skills and a high level of attention to detail• The ability to work as individual contributor on projects or in collaboration with a team• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Education:• MS/PhD in Engineering, Physics, Material Science or related field

Skills Required

  • At least 3 years of semiconductor industry experience with overlay experience
  • Strong understanding of overlay lithography process metrics for characterization, optimization, and line control
  • Experience with image- and diffraction-based overlay, SEM, scatterometry/OCD, and pupil-based overlay or registration techniques
  • Process and equipment experience with instrumentation and calibration procedures
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes including diffusion, CVD, etch, and lithography
  • Understanding of NAND and DRAM device process flows
  • Proficiency with MS Office, JMP, and Python
  • Practical experience using AI tools such as CoPilot, Claude Code, or similar tools
  • Strong data analysis skills and attention to detail
  • MS or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
