Job Description

As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you'll discover meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world's toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.

DESCRIPTIONPosition Overview

As MES Systems Lead at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a crucial role in supporting Manufacturing Execution System (MES) implementation and post-go-live operations at the manufacturing site level.

You will act as the key coordination point between site users, Global MES teams, IT, Infrastructure, ERP, MES offshore development/configuration teams, vendors, and implementation partners. You will use your functional and technical knowledge of MES platforms and manufacturing processes to clarify requirements, support business process reengineering, manage site-level MES governance, and coordinate activities across the full MES lifecycle, from site readiness and implementation through go-live, hypercare, and steady-state support.

You will also play a key role in the site's multi-year manufacturing systems transformation, supporting the transition from legacy MES platforms to PharmaSuite while ensuring business continuity and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the main site-level IT coordination and governance contact for MES projects and support activities

  • Build strong working relationships with Operations, Quality, MSAT, Validation, Site IT, Global MES, Infrastructure, ERP, vendors, and implementation partners

  • Coordinate MES lifecycle activities including requirements, design, build, testing, training, go-live, hypercare, support handover, and steady-state operations

  • Support and maintain the current MES platform, ensuring system availability, issue resolution, lifecycle management, and business continuity until transition to the target MES solution

  • Track, prioritize, and escalate MES actions, issues, risks, dependencies, and readiness items, ensuring clear business impact, ownership, and timely follow-up

  • Coordinate functional and technical discussions between site users, Global MES teams, and offshore development/configuration teams

  • Support business process reengineering and alignment with the core MES template, global standards, and practical shopfloor needs

  • Capture and translate site feedback, process gaps, user requirements, and local constraints into clear MES requirements

  • Coordinate site readiness for infrastructure, user access, shopfloor devices, printers, scanners, terminals, interfaces, and connectivity

  • Support testing, validation, and compliance activities by coordinating site inputs and action closure with Quality and Validation teams

Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure MES documentation is complete and current, including processes, user roles, support models, SOPs, work instructions, user guides, and training materials

  • Coordinate CSV and compliance inputs with Quality and Validation teams

  • Ensure documentation is updated when MES processes, access, devices, interfaces, or support models change

  • Maintain clear records of key decisions, open actions, knowledge transfer, and support handover

Continuous Improvement
  • Manage site-level MES governance across demand, changes, tickets, priorities, escalations, and improvement actions

  • Coordinate site support and ensure effective user support and issue resolution

  • Work with Operations, Quality, MSAT, Validation, Global MES, and support teams to prevent MES-related operational bottlenecks

  • Identify recurring issues, training needs, process gaps, and improvement opportunities to strengthen MES performance and supportability

  • Coordinate MES changes, impact assessments, testing, documentation updates, training, and user adoption

REQUIREMENTSQualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Information Technology, or related field

  • Experience supporting MES implementations or Site IT projects in manufacturing environments

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, shopfloor operations, and MES platforms

  • Strong functional and technical understanding of MES applications, interfaces, user access, infrastructure, shopfloor devices, and support processes

  • Experience in business process reengineering, requirements clarification, and translating site needs into MES requirements

  • Understanding of regulated manufacturing environments and CSV expectations is preferred

Key Proficiencies
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, coordination, follow-up, and issue-tracking skills

  • Strong ability to build effective relationships across site, global, and external teams

  • Deep knowledge of MES platforms; experience with Rockwell MES is preferred. Knowledge of Werum PAS-X, Siemens Opcenter, or other MES platforms is an advantage

  • Understanding of MES integration with ERP, LIMS, automation systems, barcode systems, label printing, reporting platforms, and shopfloor devices

  • Ability to manage site-level MES governance, including priorities, issues, changes, risks, decisions, and support readiness

  • Ability to translate business and site requirements into clear functional and technical inputs for development/configuration teams

  • Practical problem-solving approach focused on execution, user support, system reliability, and business continuity

  • Fluent in English; additional languages are beneficial.
