The Role

The joint venture StarPlus Energy between Stellantis and Samsung SDI is at the forefront of the electric vehicle (EV) revolution, focusing on the development and manufacturing of state-of-the-art EV batteries. Combining the battery manufacturing technology of Samsung SDI and the automobile brand portfolio of Stellantis that includes Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Maserati, and Fiat, the joint venture's mission is to lead the market with innovative battery solutions that drive the future of mobility. Part of the "Dare Forward 2030" initiative that includes more than $3.2 billion invested that will create 1,400 new jobs, the joint venture is slated to spearhead a major growth and development boom to the region.

We are seeking a talented and dedicated MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Systems Engineer to join our team. The MES Systems Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the manufacturing operations by maintaining and optimizing the MES for our EV battery production. This position is responsible for Tier 1 support, ensuring the MES runs efficiently, and resolving any issues that arise to minimize downtime and maintain production quality. Tier 2 support as well as major system changes will be covered by Samsung SDI HQ team located in South Korea. As the Tier 1 support, this position will be responsible for receiving and completing One-Call service tickets as well as capturing Tier 2 Demand/Enhancements (e.g. System Changes, Enhancement Projects, System Updates, etc.) to ensure efficient transfer of task to the Tier 2 HQ team. Primary method of communication with Tier 2 will be E-mail and the IT-VOC Ticket System but ad-hoc video conference call with the HQ team may be required depending on the complexity of the service ticket received.

• Provide Tier 1 support for the MES, addressing and resolving system issues on-site in a timely manner.• Monitor MES performance and ensure continuous system availability and reliability.• Perform routine system maintenance and updates to keep the MES current and efficient.• Support onsite equipment and Logistics system test.• System operation scenario management (Preventive Management, HA test, Failure/Disaster simulation training).• Perform the systems and monitor the post-works.

• Identify areas for system improvement and implement enhancements to optimize MES performance.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and HQ to integrate MES with other manufacturing systems and processes.• Support in assessing potential impacts, for new implementations, enhancements, and process changes as the on-site expert• Supporting in new implementation testing in coordination with HQ team (i.e. HQ will release, on-site will support testing and stabilizing)• Develop and maintain MES documentation, including standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot MES-related issues, working closely with HQ, On-site IT and manufacturing teams to resolve any potential problems.• Escalate complex issues to Tier 2 support in HQ as necessary.• Track and document all issues and resolutions in a timely manner.

• Train and guide manufacturing staff on MES functionalities and best practices.• Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure effective system usage.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.• 8+ years of experience in MES support or a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.• Experience in EV battery manufacturing is a plus.• Strong knowledge of MES platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Plex, ION).• Proficiency in SQL, databases, and scripting languages.• Proficiency in Oracle database.• Experience with MES system administration and/or DB data analysis.• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and quality control systems.• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, but not required.

• This role may require occasional on-call support and the ability to work flexible hours to address critical system issues (e.g. supporting as the on-site support team to HQ's response team in the event of critical system failure)• The position may involve working in a manufacturing environment, requiring adherence to safety protocols.• This role is working onsite in Kokomo, IN and will require to commute to the office on a daily basis.• May require ad-hoc video conference to be coordinated between on-site (GMT -5) and HQ (GMT +9)
