About the Position:


We are seeking a talented and analytical Merchant Payment Processing Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of merchant payments. You will be responsible for monitoring payment processing systems, analyzing payment data, identifying and resolving payment issues, and conducting in-depth analysis of network costs and payment platform fees. You will conduct data analysis and reporting utilizing SQL & Python. You will also have a significant part in optimizing our payment processing systems and implementing enhancements while collaborating with technical team members. 


This position is Remote based. Reports to the Senior Finance Manager; No direct reports

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE: 

Within 30 Days You’ll:

  • Complete our ChowNow onboarding (Ramp Camp) where you’ll learn the ins and outs about ChowNow and our products 
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the payment processing systems and factors impacting processing costs.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end payment processing workflow, including authorization, settlement, reconciliation, and chargeback management. This will include review of both the process and underlying queries and scripts utilized to accomplish the process.
  • Build strong relationships with team members, understand team dynamics, and identify key stakeholders.

Within 60 Days You’ll:

  • Gain an understanding of the data in the data warehouse and start to create data definitions
  • Learn to assess payment data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential error indicators.
  • Understand how processing and transactions are reflected on the Profit and Loss statement

Within 90 Days You’ll:

  • Leverage problem-solving skills to effectively address payment processing challenges and provide timely solutions.
  • Develop base reporting around processing and transactions.
  • Conduct an in-depth assessment of payment data to identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and propose solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Participate in projects related to payment processing system upgrades, new payment methods, or compliance initiatives.

You Should Apply If:

  • You have developed strong proficiency over 3+ years of experience in SQL and Python for data analysis and automation.
  • 2+ years of experience with payment processing systems and industry standards (e.g., PCI DSS).
  • Proven experience in assessing network costs, interchange fees, and payment platform fees.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of fraud prevention techniques and tools is a plus.
  • Experience with Stripe, Adeyn or similar platforms is also a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
