The Azure Memory & Storage Center of Excellence (AMS CoE) is part of the SCHIE organization focusing on Memory and Storage devices going into cloud hardware servers of all varieties. AMS provides memory and storage solutions to Azure, drives memory and storage suppliers to deliver high-quality products meeting Microsoft requirements. We are looking for engineers with a passion for driving impact through optimizing products and processes for quality, reliability, cost, and performance.
As a Memory Hardware Engineer II supporting Microsoft’s first-party silicon products, you will provide innovative solutions to achieve best-in-class memory reliability, performance, and sustainability.
Responsibilities
Define memory supportability requirements for Azure first-party silicon platforms, including validation, reliability, and serviceability deliverables.
Identify gaps in platform design, validation, telemetry, and operations, and drive improvements or workarounds to closure.
Partner with silicon, platform, firmware, operating-system, validation, and serviceability teams to evaluate tradeoffs and improve platform readiness.
Own assigned memory workstreams, make data-informed recommendations, communicate risks, and escalate decisions beyond the role’s scope.
Use validation results, reliability data, and telemetry to resolve recurring issues and improve quality, reliability, serviceability, cost, performance, and delivery readiness.

Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience

Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position is required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. - 3+ years technical engineering experience in a memory-related field
- Experience with memory subsystems and interfaces, such as DDR or LPDDR, including interpreting device specifications, schematics, and datasheets.
- Experience using C, C++, Python, or PowerShell to automate hardware validation, data collection, analysis, or troubleshooting.
- Experience with data analytics, data collection/aggregation, and dashboarding.
- Experience with platform bring-up including tracing issues across firmware, drivers, and OS; written/verbal communication with partner teams.

Hardware Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
