Medical Review Manager (m/f/d)

The Medical Review Manager serves as a key partner to in‑country Medical Affairs and Marketing teams, working within the DACH cluster with a primary focus on oncology materials for Austria. The role ensures the compliant review and approval of promotional, non‑promotional, and medical‑to‑medical content in line with local laws, regulations, and industry codes to minimize compliance risk. As a strategic medical process partner, the MR Manager also contributes to continuous improvement by applying best practices, identifying new ways of working, and enhancing the value delivered to medical colleagues in-country.
Role Responsibilities:
Strategic Oversight
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert and main contact for Medical Review to enable fast, high‑quality deliverables.
  • Identify strategic opportunities to improve in‑country services, operations, and cross‑functional alignment.
  • Analyze in‑country metrics and provide strategic recommendations to leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with CMAO categories and country teams to drive engagement with Medical and Marketing.
  • Lead process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Provision of Medical Expertise
  • Maintain strong scientific and clinical knowledge of Pfizer medicines and competitors.
  • Advocate for appropriate medicine use within the local healthcare system.

Collaboration to Enable Streamlined Content Creation
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to develop compliant and impactful promotional and non‑promotional materials.
  • Provide medical, scientific, and regulatory guidance during content development.
  • Review and advise on materials for health authority submissions, risk management plans, and aRMM.
  • Support creation and review of internal training materials.
  • Ensure all activities meet ethical standards and regulatory/compliance requirements.
  • Support needs of Medical, Marketing, corporate, and social media content.

Engagement & Cross‑Functional Support
  • Build strong relationships with leadership and stakeholders to support continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate in‑country communication across functions and workflows.
  • Support above‑country activities compliant with local regulations (e.g., advisory boards, symposia, market research).
  • Contribute to local compliance strategy and regulatory labeling/maintenance activities.
  • Manage code/regulatory complaints and advise on corrective actions.

Technical Responsibilities
  • Act as super‑user and change leader for the electronic approval system.
  • Serve as Final Country Signatory (where applicable).
  • Perform medical and scientific review of promotional and medical materials for compliance.
  • Provide solution‑oriented feedback to ensure compliant, accurate content.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of medicines, competitors, regulations, and Pfizer policies.
  • Deliver training on regulatory and promotional requirements.
  • Handle promotional complaints with the Country Medical Lead.
  • Support audits and inspections as required.

Service Expansion
  • Drive pilot initiatives for medical support services into business‑as‑usual operations.
  • Develop processes and workflows that increase efficiency and stakeholder value.
  • Support rapid and accurate execution of country‑level improvement opportunities.
  • Manage cross‑functional projects and smooth transition to BAU.
  • Create and lead operational processes for MR and partner functions.
  • Collaborate with transformation teams to design and deliver innovative CMO solutions.

You offer:
  • Doctorate in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or Medical Degree.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience for medical graduates, PhDs, or life sciences master's; 3+ years for science graduates.
  • Preferred experience in medical writing/review within an agency, CRO, or Pharma/Biotech.
  • Experience collaborating with global stakeholders and managing tight timelines.
  • Experience in medical content creation or promotional material review preferred.
  • Experience conducting medical review or QC of regulatory documents preferred.

The salary depends on your educational background and expertise as well as your previous experiences but will at least amount to € 66,750 EUR gross p.a. on a full-time base.
