Job Description

Reuters is seeking a talented and experienced Media Sales Support Representative to join our Global Sales Support team, based in Tokyo. Reuters Agency is a high-growth, diversified business at the heart of the world's largest news organization. Our mission is to be the definitive destination for global intelligence that powers smart decisions.

This role is primarily responsible for supporting the Japan market while also providing coverage across the broader Asia region. The Media Sales Support Representative is accountable for supporting the Reuters Sales organization on general sales-related matters, business policy, and procedural issues — acting as a trusted partner to Account Managers across Japan and Asia.

Key Responsibilities

In this opportunity as a Media Sales Support Representative for Japan & Asia, you will:

  • Serve as the primary resource for sales and account management teams across Japan and Asia to understand content/product offerings, business policies, order processing, credits, and procedures — and assist in problem solving on all issues
  • Permission prospective clients for trials based on Account Manager requests
  • Complete and update regulatory documentation for governmental and corporate clients, including Japan-specific compliance requirements
  • Support administrative tasks relating to order fulfilment (new sales, cancellations, renewals, etc.)
  • Input billing information (products, pricing, billing address, etc.) into relevant systems, supporting the quote-to-billing process
  • Escalate and follow up on client billing and invoicing issues, including Japan-specific e-invoicing requirements (Qualified Invoice System / T-number registration, JCT compliance)
  • Maintain client data (contacts, addresses, service changes, etc.) in relevant systems
  • Ensure pipeline accuracy and support monthly forecast processes by reviewing and validating pipelines created by Account Managers
  • Engage with the Commercial Policy team to support contract fulfilment and compliance
  • Ensure procedure changes are implemented and followed to maximise efficiency and deliver quality service across all order-to-cash processes
  • Train, interact, and provide analytics (usage) with customers in Japan and across Asia via phone and email on an as-needed basis
  • Share best practices and knowledge related to new products and sales process improvements across the Asia region
  • Provide logistical support for regional sales meetings and other events as needed
  • Act as a regional coverage point for Asia-based teams, collaborating with global Sales Support colleagues to ensure consistent service delivery

Required Qualifications

You’re a fit for the role of Media Sales Support Representative for Japan & Asia if you have the following required qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a business operations, sales support, order management, or customer service function — ideally in a media, information services, or B2B environment
  • Strong communication skills (written, oral, presentation) in both Japanese and English
  • Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to resolve standard and complex client issues
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make sound decisions based on knowledge of business objectives
  • Customer-oriented mindset with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Comfort working in a complex and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities across regions and functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Japanese commercial and compliance documentation, including the Qualified Invoice System (T-number / Tekikaku Seikyūsho), Consumption Tax / JCT requirements, and standard Japanese business documentation practices
  • Language skills: Fluent in Japanese and English is a must; additional Asian language skills (e.g. Mandarin, Korean) are a plus
  • Familiarity with Japanese business culture and professional etiquette, including communication norms with enterprise and governmental clients
  • Proficiency with project management methodologies (Agile/Waterfall) and tools (e.g. Jira, Asana, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project)
  • Experience with Salesforce; SAP a plus
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or coordinating across multiple markets or time zones within Asia
  • Demonstrated project management experience leading cross-functional initiatives from initiation to delivery
