This is a junior-level advertising agency position with our media planning team, supporting the creation, execution, analysis and optimization of clients’ media campaigns across channels. Your efforts will play a key part in helping clients reach the right audience, connect media strategy to business goals, and translate campaign performance into clear recommendations.
The ideal candidate enjoys learning new technology, is comfortable working with data in Excel, and brings curiosity about how audiences, media behaviors, marketplace trends and emerging tools can inform stronger media plans.
Local market experience is preferred, and prior healthcare industry experience is a plus. While a remote position, periodically accommodating meetings in different time zones is expected. Preference may be given to candidates in Eastern time zone.
What does a Media Planner do at Rain?
- Develop media plans
- Ensure our clients’ marketing campaigns reach the right target audience in the most effective way possible to drive sales and brand awareness
- Responsible for creating media-specific documents such as media plans and optimization reporting
- Support the development of audience-first, cross-channel media recommendations by synthesizing research, campaign performance, competitive activity, marketplace trends and client business goals into clear planning inputs and client-ready insights
- Recommend how to optimize campaigns across media channels, placements, products and creative to deliver optimal performance
- Help evaluate how channels work together across linear, streaming, digital video, social, audio, search, retail media, out-of-home and emerging platforms to build more connected media plans
- Produce engaging campaign analysis for clients, demonstrating the effectiveness of planning, testing and media optimization
- Support test-and-learn initiatives by helping define test inputs, track results, capture learnings and recommend opportunities to optimize or scale successful approaches
- Proficiently evaluate response data and media attribution modeling outputs to inform future plan recommendations
- Translate performance data, attribution outputs and marketplace context into concise insights that help clients understand what is working, why it matters and what should happen next
- Manage the details
- Stay on top of the data, continually identifying media performance and changing behaviors to inform and adjust media strategy
- Apply research and data insights to inform the storytelling of the media strategy and performance
- Evaluate budgets, KPIs, media schedules and timelines and ensure budgets are being maintained
- Maintain strong operational accuracy across budget pacing, plan inputs, media schedules, specs, timelines, trafficking details, billing support and communication with activation teams
- Use media research, planning, measurement and reporting tools, including Nielsen, MRI, proprietary measurement products and emerging automation, AI and data platforms, to improve planning efficiency and insight development
- Be a team player
- Work closely with Media Planning, Client Services, Investment, Analytics, Strategy, Creative and Project Management teams to manage clients’ campaigns and ensure work moves forward with clarity and accountability
- Participate in internal and external status meetings
- Contribute to client-ready deliverables by helping turn data, insights and recommendations into clear narratives that support media strategy, performance updates and planning decisions
- Bring a curious, future-focused mindset
- Maintain a strong understanding of the evolving media marketplace, including streaming, digital video, retail media, social platforms, measurement innovation and emerging tools that can improve planning efficiency and insight development
- Stay current on audience behavior, competitive activity, publisher and platform innovation, measurement shifts and new planning approaches to inform smarter, more forward-looking client recommendations
What do we look for in a Media Planner at our agency?
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or a similar field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Two to four years of experience
- Working knowledge of analytics tools (MRI, Nielsen, etc.)
- Broad knowledge of media channels
- Understanding of how media channels work together across traditional, digital, streaming and emerging platforms to support full-funnel client objectives
- An analytical mind with an aptitude for statistics and math
- Ability to interpret data, identify meaningful performance drivers and translate findings into actionable recommendations
- Strong decision-making skills
- High attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Curiosity about the evolving media marketplace and comfort learning new research, planning, reporting, automation and AI-enabled tools

Target Base Salary: $53 - $65K
Base salary is determined based on a wide range of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, job duties, and needs of the business. Base salary is one part of our total compensation package, which includes benefits, perks, and a profit-sharing bonus.
