MA TRAINING PROGRAM VIDEO- Trainees must be a Milwaukee County resident required to meet grant funding eligibility.
Program Start Date: June 2026
Children’s Wisconsin Application Deadline: 5/1/26.
MAAPET Eligibility Assessment
18 week training program.
Trainees receive foundational coursework and training for a Medical Assistant Certification.
Classroom training located in person at Employ Milwaukee.
Clinical externship hours at a Children’s Wisconsin clinic.
Coursework and studying to be completed in addition to the classroom and externship work schedule.
Full-time work schedule.
Monday – Friday.
Participants receive an hourly wage while training.
Laptop computers & necessary equipment will be loaned to you upon acceptance into the program.
- Must be a Milwaukee County resident required to meet grant funding eligibility.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Prior customer service experience is required.
Prior healthcare experience is required.
TABE score equal to a 6th grade level in reading & math.
TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) is essentially a placement test. All candidates interested in being considered for the program must take and pass the test with at least a 6th grade level in reading & math.

Availability to continue working as a medical assistant for 2+ years at Children's Wisconsin after completing the training program.
Must meet grant eligibility requirements required (See below).
A passion for wanting to work in healthcare.
Willingness to learn and perform both blood draws and immunizations to pediatric patients.
Ability to work with a diverse patient population to promote a culturally competent environment.
Physical ability to lift and position patients weighing up to 75 pounds, as well as push and pull when performing cleaning functions.
MAAPET is funded in whole or in part by the Department of Labor Nursing Expansion Grant. This project is funded in whole or in part by the Department of Labor Nursing Expansion Grant You must meet grant eligibility requirements to participate in this program. Once you complete the application, you will be directed to an eligibility form to complete. Please note that if you are moved forward in the application process you will be required to provide documentation for the answers that you provide on the eligibility application.

- Stage 3 – TABE Test Assessment
Individuals who pass their stage 2 grant funded eligibility requirements will be notified and automatically invited to complete a TABE test assessment.
TABE Test Assessments will be completed up until 5/8/26.

- Stage 4 – Interview Screen & References
Qualified candidates who pass the stage 3 TABE assessment will be invited via e-mail to complete a brief recorded interview and references.
Interview screens and references will need to be completed up until May 2026.
- Stage 5 – Final Interview
Individuals who pass the stage 4 interview screen and references process will be invited to a final interview via Zoom.
Final interviews will take place up until mid/late May.
- Stage 6 – Selection process & Final Eligibility
Candidates who pass the stage 5 final interview will need to complete final eligibility requirements to confirm grant eligibility requirements, background checks, and employee health and wellness requirements.
Final candidates selected will be made offers of employment for the training program will be made up until mid/late May.
Program start date is June 2026.
