Tasks and Qualifications:Your challenge:
The Mechanical Project Leader reporting to the Engineering Manager is going to work in an international business context will be responsible for:
- Lead Mechanical Scope in Sorter Projects
Manage the end-to-end mechanical activities for sorter systems in both greenfield and brownfield projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and internal standards. - Mechanical Integration & Coordination
Interface with System Engineering, Controls, Software, and Installation teams to ensure proper mechanical integration of sorter equipment within larger automation solutions. - Standardization & Product Development
Drive continuous improvement and standardization of mechanical designs within the Sorter CoE, collaborating with R&D and product engineering teams. - Technical Documentation
Oversee the creation and review of mechanical specifications, BOMs, drawings, and validation plans for sorter modules and systems. - Quality & Compliance
Ensure compliance with international mechanical safety standards and internal engineering guidelines. Contribute to FMEA and risk assessments. - Supplier & Manufacturing Interface
Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to align on technical requirements, quality expectations, and delivery timelines. - On-Site & Remote Support
Support installation, testing, and commissioning activities for sorter systems as the primary mechanical point of contact, providing technical troubleshooting as needed. - Project Planning & Reporting
Collaborate with Project Management and Engineering teams to plan tasks, monitor progress, identify risks, and report on deliverables.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent technical field.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the automation or intralogistics sector
- Prior exposure to sorter technologies (crossbelt, sliding shoe, line sorters) is a strong advantage
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in 3D CAD tools (NX, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Knowledge of PDM/PLM systems and mechanical simulation techniques
- Understanding of mechanical dynamics, wear-prone components, and Familiarity with CE marking, machinery directives, and safety design
Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a matrix organization
- Problem-solving mindset with focus on practical implementation and continuous improvement
Languages:
- Fluent in English and Italian (written and spoken)
Mobility:
- Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites, manufacturing partners, and customer locations across Europe, North America, and Asia.
