Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen B.V., located in Vlissingen-Oost, is part of the Damen Shiprepair & Conversion group, which operates 12 shipyards worldwide. Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen specializes in the maintenance, repair, and conversion of ships and complex maritime assets.

The role
Do you enjoy working with your hands, solving technical challenges, and being part of a dynamic environment?
As a Ship Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of (complex) mechanical assembly and maintenance activities. You will work on main and auxiliary systems on board mega yachts, newbuild vessels, and repair projects, following technical instructions and collaborating with specialists when needed.
Key accountabilities
Your responsibilities include:
- Dismantling, assembling, repairing, and overhauling pumps, winches, propeller shafts, and rudders;
- Disassembling hydraulic cylinders and steering gear systems, and aligning equipment such as pumps, engines, and gearboxes together with specialists;
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, diagrams, and work instructions;
- Transporting components in and out of vessels;
- Fabricating and installing foundations;
- Performing work related to pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Skills & experience
- MBO level 3 (vocational) working and thinking level;
- Solid technical affinity—preferably in mechanical engineering/machining—or a strong willingness to learn;
- Experience in ship repair, shipbuilding, or offshore environments;
- Knowledge of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) regulations;
- Good command of Dutch and/or English is a plus;
- Willingness to work evening and weekend shifts on a rotating schedule.
