The Role
As a Mechanical Fitter specializing in Fixed Plant processing equipment, you play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of machinery and systems within industrial processing plants. Your expertise encompasses tasks related to maintenance, refurbishment, modification, and construction of fixed plant processing equipment. Adherence to safety protocols, compliance with regulations, and representing the company positively are integral to your responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Strip & Assess of Minerals Processing Equipment:
Disassemble minerals processing equipment to assess its condition accurately.
Inspect components for wear, damage, or defects and document findings.
Evaluate the need for repairs or replacement parts based on assessment results.
Refurbish Fixed Plant Processing Equipment:
Refurbish fixed plant processing equipment to restore functionality and efficiency.
Replace worn or damaged components with new parts or repair existing ones.
Ensure that refurbished equipment meets quality standards and operational requirements.
Repair, Assemble, Install Items in Accordance with Approved Procedures and Drawings:
Follow approved procedures and technical drawings to repair, assemble, and install equipment.
Ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications during repair and installation processes.
Verify proper alignment and integration of components to optimize equipment performance.
Carry out Workshop Duties as Requested by Leaders:
Fulfill workshop tasks assigned by supervisors or team leaders promptly and efficiently.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in the workshop environment.
Handle tools, equipment, and materials responsibly in accordance with established procedures.
Completion of All Allocated Work as Part of On-the-Job Training Supplied by FLSmidth Pty Limited:
Participate in on-the-job training programs provided by FLSmidth Pty Limited.
Demonstrate competency in completing assigned tasks and applying acquired skills.
Seek feedback and guidance from trainers or mentors to improve performance and learning.
Adherence to Legislative Requirements and Company Policies:
Ensure compliance with relevant legislative regulations and company policies and procedures.
Follow safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality standards in all work activities.
Report any non-compliance issues or safety hazards promptly to appropriate personnel.
Adherence to FLSmidth Safety Policies and Procedures:
Follow safety policies and procedures established by FLSmidth to maintain a safe work environment.
Identify and address potential safety hazards to prevent accidents or injuries.
Participate in safety training programs and promote a culture of safety awareness among colleagues.
Represent FLSmidth Pty Limited in a Positive and Responsible Manner:
Uphold the reputation and values of FLSmidth Pty Limited through professional conduct and behavior.
Interact with clients, vendors, and stakeholders courteously and respectfully.
Act as an ambassador for the company, promoting its products, services, and brand image positively.
Requirements:
Trade Certificate in Fitting
Minimum 5 years post Apprentice field experience
Previous employment associated with repair and maintenance of Minerals Processing Equipment in particular; Crushers, HPGR’s and Gearboxes
Basic Welding skills
Effective oral and written communication skills
A team player approach
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as required
Forklift License
Drivers license.
