Responsible for the Mechanical Engineering of simple to complex projects. Uses knowledge of commonly used and high-level concepts, practices, procedures and high-level engineering principles to complete the assigned work. Is responsible for all aspects of the project including component and reference selection, functionality, and the use of good engineering practices. Works with minimal or no supervision. Leads and directs the work of others to accomplish the goals of the project including controls actuators.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops 3D models, assembly and detail drawings to Valmet specifications.
- Completes bills of material and drawing releases.
- Performs checking of drawings and bills of material to ensure quality, accuracy and fit for purpose.
- Makes necessary calculations to ensure equipment complies with expectations of contract.
- Performs 3D scans and can use data to engineer and verify equipment fit.
- Participates in safety risk assessments for assigned projects and assists with the completion of risk assessment documentation.
- Ensures engineering complies with contract specification.
- Provides technical support for project meetings with customers.
- Supervises the personnel on the design team on small to medium sized projects to ensure that the completion of the design work is complete, accurate, on schedule and at estimated hours.
- Facilitates the resolution of problem situations with equipment/designs with manager input as needed.
- Assembly, Testing, Start up and Service
- Defines the assembly scope and necessary validation including shop layout and fabrications needed for testing.
- Up to 20% travel may be required.
What you’ll need:
Associate, Technician, Technologist diploma from a two or three year college, or Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) from four-year college or university; minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
