Mechanical Engineer

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Zagreb, Croatia!

The Mechanical Engineer – Mechanical Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and sustaining support of Single-Phase UPS and power products. This role requires strong technical expertise in mechanical design, product integration, thermal management, and manufacturing support, along with the ability to mentor and guide team members.

The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles and hands-on experience in UPS or similar power electronics product development environments. 

What kind of work will you be doing?

  • Design and develop mechanical parts, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD tools such as Creo and/or Solid Edge
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and unit configurator logic to ensure correct BOM selection based on customer configurations and product options
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Service, Quality, Electrical, Firmware, and Compliance teams to develop robust and manufacturing product designs
  • Support prototype builds by providing hands-on technical support and resolving issues during assembly and testing phases
  • Gather feedback from prototype builds, testing activities, and field trials, and implement necessary design improvements
  • Review existing products and proactively suggest ideas for product improvements, cost optimization, manufacturability, and reliability enhancement
  • Assist in troubleshooting escalated or recurring field issues and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Mechanical CAD tools, processes, and best practices for both the Pune team and the broader business organization
  • Support NPDI activities across EVT, DVT, PVT, pilot production, and sustenance phases
  • Support compliance and reliability-related activities including thermal validation, environmental testing, and mechanical reliability assessments
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing teams for fabrication feasibility, tooling reviews, and design improvements 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis in UPS, power electronics, or similar product development environments
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical integration concepts, product safety requirements, and system-level design considerations
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably Creo 10.0 or higher
  • Experience with:
    • Sheet Metal Design
    • Injection Molded Plastic Design
    • Mechanical assemblies
    • Thermal analysis/simulations
    • Structural packaging
  • Experience creating and revising engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Familiarity with change order management and PLM systems such as Oracle Agile, Windchill, or equivalent tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, resolve, and prevent recurring issues methodically
  • Good understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes including:
    • Welding
    • Injection Molding
    • CNC Machining
    • Sheet Metal Fabrication
  • Hands-on experience with validation activities including:
    • Thermal testing
    • Flow testing
    • Reliability testing
    • Prototype validation
  • Strong documentation skills including preparation of:
    • Engineering change requests
    • Test reports
    • Validation reports
    • Sustenance handoff documentation
  • Proven experience supporting NPDI projects using Stage-Gate or equivalent product development processes
  • Strong working knowledge of PLM systems (Oracle PD Cloud, Windchill) for BOM and design lifecycle management
  • Excellent planning, organizational, documentation, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within cross-functional global engineering teams
  • Strong collaboration, ownership, and mentoring capabilities
  • English minimum B2 level
