BAE Systems' Infrastructure Management Center (IMC) is a cross-functional group of engineers supporting infrastructure-related projects across the company, with a focus on growing into new areas outside the company. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the success of our projects.
As the IMC Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved with various engineering projects, including equipment and facility engineering assessments, requirements generation, and equipment design efforts. You will work on a range of projects, including but not limited to plant modernization, weapons storage modernization, energetics, and research opportunities within the Department of War (DoW) and Department of Energy (DoE). Your expertise will help drive business growth, reduce costs, and enhance our capabilities in infrastructure and engineering.
The Role
The Principal Senior Mechanical Engineer performs one or more of the following functions:Consider safety in all aspects of work and design
- Work with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to perform plant and project engineering.
- Perform mechanical engineering analyses in areas including steam systems, machine design, stress analysis (FEA), 3D modeling, drafting, GD&T, industrial equipment, thermal/fluid systems, mechatronics, automation, instrumentation, process control, and system integration.
- Inspect existing facilities, processing machinery, and pipelines to determine integrity and safety; provide recommendations for necessary modifications.
- Support the development of plans and schedules for all project phases to ensure resource availability.
- Ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, and construction best practices while remaining within budget.
- Create detailed project proposals, scopes of work, and estimates.
- Review and approve design packages from suppliers and firms, providing constructability input.
- Execute commissioning plans and maintain all required documentation.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. We may consider a closely related degree
- 8 yrs technical experience (6 yrs with MS) in industrial design and construction, with an emphasis in mechanical engineering
- Working knowledge of mechanical design software for efficient production of engineering work (AutoCAD,ANSYS, etc.)
- Ability to direct design teams and external design firms and create required engineering documentation using Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project
- Ability to interface effectively with site operations and maintenance teams
- Must be able to obtain Secret (or higher) security clearance
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Professional Engineer License
- Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Unified Facilities Guide Specification (UFGS) and ASHRAE Standards
- Experience in the design and construction of chemical manufacturing or production facilities
- Active Secret clearance, Ability to obtain Top Secret
- Familiarity with Agile Mindset and continuous process improvement
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $120874 - $205486
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
