Summary

As an Engineering (Mechanical) Intern with Fugro Subsea Technologies,  you will have the opportunity to play a vital role in the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and equipment for Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV/eROV). You will work alongside a team of experienced engineers and gain practical experience in various aspects of mechanical engineering, including design, analysis, prototyping, and testing.This position will be reporting to the Mechanical Design Engineer Team Lead.

Responsibilities

• Design and Development: You will assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems for subsea equipment. This may include concept generation, 3D modelling, detailed design, and prototyping.
• Analysis  and  Simulation:  You  will  support  the  team  in  performing  engineering  analysis  and simulations  using  tools  such  as  finite  element  analysis  (FEA)  and  computational  fluid  dynamics (CFD). Analyse and optimize mechanical designs for performance, durability, and reliability.
• Documentation and Reporting: You will contribute to creating and maintaining detailed engineering documentation,  including  design  specifications,  technical  reports,  test  procedures,  and  drawings. Ensure that all documentation adheres to quality and regulatory standards.
• Collaboration:  You  will  collaborate  with  cross-functional  teams,  including  engineers,  technicians, and  project  managers,  to  ensure  seamless  communication  and  successful  project  execution. Participate in design reviews and provide input and feedback on mechanical designs.
• Research and Innovation: You will be able to stay updated on the latest advancements in electronics design technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
• Safety and Compliance: You will be required to comply with all safety guidelines and regulations, maintaining a safe and secure working environment.

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and thermodynamics.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for modelling and design.
• Familiarity with engineering analysis tools such as FEA and CFD is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities
• Self-motivated and passionate about mechanical engineering.

Note:  The  specific  tasks  and  responsibilities  may  vary  depending  on  the  project  and  department requirements.  As  an  intern,  you  will  have  the  opportunity  to  work  on  exciting  projects,  gain  practical experience,  and  contribute  to  the  advancement  of  mechanical  systems  for  underwater  operations. Mentorship from experienced professionals will guide your learning and development throughout the internship.
