The Mechanical Drafter I supports the Engineering team by creating and updating 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings used for product design and manufacturing. This entry-level drafting role focuses primarily on drawing creation and revisions using Siemens NX, working from direction provided by Mechanical Designers and Engineers.
The Mechanical Drafter I is responsible for producing accurate and complete documentation, following established drafting standards, and collaborating with engineering and production teams to support the release of high-quality product designs.
- Attention to Detail: Maintains accuracy in models and drawings, checks dimensions, and follows established documentation standards.
- Communication: Communicates clearly with team members to ask questions, clarify requirements, and ensure accuracy of drafted work.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Works cooperatively with Mechanical Designers, Engineers, and Manufacturing teams; accepts feedback and guidance.
- Functional/Technical Skills: Applies basic drafting principles, CAD practices, NX tools, and GD&T.

- Create and revise 3D part and assembly models using Siemens NX.
- Produce and update 2D drawings with accurate dimensions, tolerances, and notes.
- Ensure drawings comply with company standards and GD&T practices.
- Support ECO/ECR processes by updating drawings and models as directed.
- Maintain accurate digital file structure and version control in PLM/PDM systems.
- Work with design and engineering team members to clarify drafting requirements.
- Assist with prototype build support by providing drawing updates.
- Participate in review and correction of drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Support standard CAD library and template maintenance.
- Consistently model Company Values and Expected Behaviors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required:
- Associate degree in Mechanical Drafting, CAD Technology, or related field.
- Working knowledge of Siemens NX modeling and drafting tools.
- Understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerancing, and GD&T.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn company standards.
- Ability to follow direction and work in a team environment.
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems (Teamcenter or equivalent).
- Exposure to manufacturing processes (sheet metal, machining, welding).
- Internship or 0–2 years drafting experience.
