Daikin Applied is seeking a Mechanical Designer. The Designer will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage a parts list. Designers will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered. Location: Plymouth, MN – Hybrid
What you will do:
Create engineering documentation including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards
Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation
Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules
Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills
Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness
Complete work assignments within a determined time frame and use judgment in determining assignment goals
Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products
Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic
Be part of and function in a team environment including cross functional and inter-departmental teams

Minimum Qualifications:
Vocational, Technical, Associates in Design/Drafting, or Engineering Bachelor's Degree
0+ years of related experience
Experience designing in SolidWorks or related
Experience with Excel
The ability to travel up to 10% (mostly to factories located in MN)
Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in sheet metal and tubing design and/or HVAC products
Experience working with flowcharts and variable geometry

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $25.72 - $41.20 in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
