We are looking for driven and customer focused talent with a genuine product development background; interest and ability to go outside your technical expertise and comfort zone with the desire to build our hardware & software business through the growth of high performing teams. The challenges will be very dynamic as we cater to the Telecom, Defense, Industrial, Med-Tech, Automotive and Transportation industries.

As an Engineering Manager you will be a part of the leadership team and actively be involved in execution of our projects, assignments and business development and the ongoing expansion of Syntronic in North America. 

What you’ll do

  • We are looking to fill the position of Engineering Manager – Mechanical Design. The chosen candidate will be one who has started their career as a Mechanical Designer, in electronic hardware development, then progressed into Management roles. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Technical Leadership
  • Oversee the technologies, tools and techniques used within the team.
  • Work closely with business partners’ teams on issues related to timing of deliverables and ensuring requirements are met.
  • Develop and communicate standards for the team to achieve high quality deliverables.
  • Strong technical background in multiple aspects of mechanical design in electronics hardware development (ex. Enclosure development, PCB mechanical design, thermal & structural analysis, fabrication and assembly technologies, product data management) and understanding of the complete product life cycle.
  • Take part in proposal development and physical architecture / concept development.
  • People Leadership
  • Manage resource assignments and utilization for all assigned resources.
  • Build and promote a positive working environment.
  • Train and integrate new team members and proactively support the continued development of existing team members.
  • Effectively manage team in line with company policy and procedures, including performance management, career development, training, and conflict resolution with effective feedback
  • Coach and mentor team members
  • Work with the wider team to support initiatives including Recruitment of new employees into yours and other teams within Syntronic.
  • Cross train with other leaders to gain and share expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication coupled with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Be a champion for your area within Syntronic.
  • Business Development
  • Managing scope with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure harmonious working relationships with our key partners.
  • Identify risks and roadblocks to the successful completion of the deliverables and work with the Management team to resolve.
  • Utilize business and technical knowledge to specifying RFQ & SOW solutions for customer needs.
  • Ensure that projects are accurately estimated and delivered on schedule.

What you'll need to get the job done

  • 10+ years’ engaging and working with cross-functional hardware development projects.
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Self-motivated and organized.
  • Driven towards customer satisfaction and building long-term relationships.
  • Experience in interfacing with technical customers for managing scope and expectations.
  • Solid technical background and understanding of product life cycle with deep knowledge of hardware development process.
  • Proven record for recruiting and building teams with proper skillsets assessment based on clients’ and projects’ needs.
  • People management or project management skills that include, but is not limited to performance reviews, competence development, salary reviews, deliverables management, etc.

  • 8+ years of detailed mechanical design & verification experience.
  • 2+ years managerial/leadership experience.
