This Position reports to:

Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.
The work model for the role is: onsite. This role is contributing to the Codian Robotics unit in Ede.

Codian Robotics BV is The Leading Innovator for Pick & Place robots. We positioned under B&R, part of the ABB group, a global leader in industrial robotics and automation. At Codian Robotics we develop and manufacture industrial robot mechanics that are sold all over the world. We are a flexible, innovative, ambitious and growing company. Currently we are expanding our R&D team and are looking for an enthusiastic mechanical design engineer who supports us to develop the next generation of parallel kinematic robot mechanics.
You will be mainly accountable for:

• Creating innovative conceptual solutions in the field of industrial robotics.

• Creating detail mechanical designs and calculations.

• Performing various tasks in the mechanical development, from building concepts, gathering requirements to designing, implementing, integrating, testing, technology transfer or maintenance, and operations.

• Testing and verification of our Robots and Robots subsystems.

• Understanding and applying applicable processes, standards, guidelines, and requirements, including architectural and design constraints.

• Working as an independent and reliable contributor in R&D projects with limited supervision.

• Supporting assembly department and being the technical point of contact with our suppliers.

• Supporting Sales in technical customer inquiries and supporting pilot customer applications.

Reporting to the Team Lead Engineering, you will join a dynamic R&D team that is responsible for Developing and maintaining our robot mechanics.

 
Qualifications for the role

• You bring over 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design within the exciting domains of Robotics and Machine Building.

• You confidently showcase your expertise in machine design and analysis, and have a genuine interest in the Food or Packaging Industry.

• You’re highly skilled in CAD design and enjoy turning ideas into tangible solutions.

• You thrive in a prototyping environment, bringing a practical, hands-on mindset to every challenge.

• You approach problems with a solution-driven attitude and communicate clearly and effectively in both Dutch and English.
