The opportunity

Infravision is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Product Development to design, develop, and optimize mechanical components and systems for our stringing and network technology products. Reporting to the Head of Engineering and partnering closely with Operations and Manufacturing teams, this role will contribute across the full product development lifecycle, from concept generation and design validation through prototype testing and manufacturing support.

This is an opportunity for a technically strong and creative engineer who enjoys solving practical problems, translating concepts into robust mechanical designs, and helping bring innovative technology from development into reliable field use.

About Infravision

Infravision is redefining how critical infrastructure is built, inspected, and maintained. We combine aviation, robotics, and field technology to help modernize the power grid safely, efficiently, and at scale. Our technology is deployed in real-world field environments, helping utilities and infrastructure partners improve safety, reduce risk, and accelerate the delivery of critical energy infrastructure.

Why work for Infravision

  • Join a mission driven organization and make a meaningful impact on climate change and decarbonising the global electric grid.
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Collaborative and energizing environment. We have an enjoyable, dynamic and collaborative work environment.

What you’ll do

  • Product Concept & Design. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and develop mechanical product solutions that meet customer needs and market requirements.
  • CAD Development. Use CAD tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD to design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems in alignment with design specifications, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Feasibility & Design Risk. Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate design concepts and recommend practical, commercially viable solutions.
  • Prototyping & Testing. Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept models, plan and execute mechanical testing, and evaluate product performance, durability, reliability, and functionality under relevant operating conditions.
  • Engineering Analysis & Validation. Analyze test results and perform structural analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to identify design issues and optimize strength, stiffness, thermal performance, and energy flow.
  • Design for Manufacture & Serviceability. Conduct tolerance analysis and design reviews with consideration for reliability, accessibility, operability, maintainability, manufacturability, and commercial viability.
  • Supplier & Manufacturing Support. Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to source materials, components, and tooling needed for prototype development, testing, and product realization.
  • Documentation & Compliance. Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation, and support compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, quality systems, approvals, and certifications.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation. Stay current on emerging technologies and engineering best practices; identify opportunities to improve product performance, reduce cost, and advance new technologies through research, design reviews, and cross-functional collaboration.
