Digantara is a leading Space Surveillance and Intelligence company focused on ensuring orbital safety and sustainability. With expertise in space-based detection, tracking, identification, and monitoring, Digantara provides comprehensive domain awareness across regimes, allowing end users to have actionable intelligence on a single platform. At the core of its infrastructure lies a sophisticated integration of hardware and software capabilities aligned with the key principles of situational awareness: perception (data collection), comprehension (data processing), and prediction (analytics). This holistic approach empowers Digantara to monitor all Resident Space Objects (RSOs) in orbit, fostering comprehensive domain awareness.
Digantara is seeking a Mechanical and Systems Integration Engineer to support the realization of ground systems involving stabilized mounts, telescope assemblies, optical/electronic payloads, IMUs, control systems, enclosures, and mechanical support structures. The engineer shall take requirements from multiple subsystems, assess integration feasibility, prepare CAD layouts and interface drawings, design support fixtures and brackets, plan the integration sequence, support end-to-end assembly and testing, and maintain as-built documentation.
Why Us?Competitive incentives, galvanizing workspace, blazing team, frequent outings - pretty much everything you have heard about a startup + you get to work on space technology.
Hustle in a well-funded startup, allowing you to take charge of your responsibilities and create your moonshot.
Understand top-level system requirements and translate them into mechanical layout, interface and integration requirements for ground systems.
Study vendor datasheets, CAD models and interface drawings for stabilized mounts, telescope payloads, enclosures, electronics cabinets etc.
Study integration feasibility with respect to payload mass, centre of gravity, motion envelope, mounting interface, cable routing, maintenance access, stiffness, vibration isolation and environmental protection.
Generate 3D CAD models and integrated assembly layouts of the complete system, including subsystem placement and envelope/interference checks.
·Prepare 2D manufacturing drawings, interface control drawings, assembly drawings, exploded views, BoM and fabrication packages for brackets, adapter plates, support frames and fixtures.
Design and realize mechanical fixtures required for payload mounting, additional support, alignment, lifting, transport locking, cable support and maintenance access.
Prepare the mechanical integration sequence, assembly procedure, inspection checklist, torque/fastener list, alignment method and test-readiness checklist.
Support hands-on integration, fitment checks, issue resolution, as-built updates and end-to-end mechanical closure with cross-functional teams.
Coordinate with vendors, fabrication suppliers, electrical/control engineers and system engineers to close mechanical interface and integration issues.
1-3 years of academic/project/industry experience in mechanical design, CAD modelling, fabrication drawings or mechanical integration.
B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Hands-on proficiency in at least one 3D CAD tool such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent.
Ability to generate 3D models, 2D fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and interface drawings.
Basic understanding of machine design, fasteners, brackets, fixtures, tolerances, materials and manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal and fabrication.
Basic ability to estimate payload envelope, centre of gravity, load path, stiffness requirements and mechanical clearances.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation and hands-on integration skills.
Preferred SkillsExperience with mobile platforms, stabilized mounts, telescope mounts, antennas, rugged enclosures or outdoor mechanical systems.
Exposure to vibration isolation, shock mounting, IP-rated enclosures, sealing, cable glands, corrosion protection and marine/outdoor installations.
Basic familiarity with FEA tools such as ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation.
Ability to prepare BoMs, vendor fabrication packages, assembly procedures, inspection checklists and as-built documentation.
Ability to work in a mission-focused, operational environment.
Ability to think critically and make independent decisions under guidance.
Interpersonal skills to enable working in a diverse and dynamic team.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Writing and delivering technical documents, drawings, integration plans and briefings.
Verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational skills.
