Responsibilities
- Leads the team in creating Photo-realistic DMP’s, stylized DMP’s and concept art.
- Gives guidance to the team and supervises the quality of the work.
- Highlights cost implications of requests or changes.
- Helps maintain the directory structure, naming conventions and files.
- Interacts with other departments to troubleshoot creative and technical issues and ensures continuity and that all elements work within a sequence.
- Acts as the primary contact person and is responsible for the department.
- Actively participates in meetings to set direction and creative goals, ensuring that technical and budgetary requirements are met.
- Assigns the work to each team member, according to skill sets.
- Gives guidance to the team, supervises the quality of the work, and works closely with production to complete deadlines.
- Partners with HR and TA to source and recruit the best talent in the industry.
- Mentors potential up-and-coming artists to guide them in their career paths.
- Acts as a company ambassador utilizing his/her extensive network in the industry, and plays a key role in selling the studio as a first-class place of work, maintaining ongoing relationships with key industry players, contributing to Skydance’s reputation.
- Keeps up on current technology trends and tools (hardware and software) that best suit the production (and the company) in the development of a stronger creative technical environment.
- Coordinates with other departments to develop and implement solutions for the show using procedural techniques.
Requirements
- 8+ years in VFX or animation industries.
- 4+ years of experience as a Lead in the animation industry.
- A strong creative/technical background as a proven leader in setting direction for production and for inspiring and motivating production staff.
- Professional mastering in Photoshop, Houdini with Renderman, Nuke, Blender, Maya.
- Experience building new pipelines.
- Advanced English level.
- Spanish oral and written is desirable.
