The Mathematicians Team Manager is an integral part of the BLS Leadership Team that will help drive the technical team of a high-volume games' portfolio. As Manager you will oversee development efforts and interact with technical managers across platform, GDK, and Server along with legal and various partners throughout the business. As a manager, you will also be expected to monitor and develop the mathematicians' team and have close interaction with Game Designers to architect new features and solve complex problems. You will have a significant influence on our overall technical strategy as it relates to the math behind our top performing games by helping define product features, drive development across multiple markets, and spreadhead the best practices that enable a quality product. We are looking for a leader who is technically strong in mathematics and prize first gaming, willing to roll up their sleeves, and dive into troubleshooting technical issues. What You'll Do

  • Own the complete development cycle for the mathematicians' team: defining, prioritizing, designing, and leading implementation and testing of new features within the studio development environment.
  • Define, manage, and improve the product development processes by working closely with process leaders across the studio, and with our business partners throughout the company.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the mathematicians' team and ensure project plans and delivery commitments are met.
  • Coach and mentor, our mathematicians to help them grow their skills, enhance their knowledge of our systems and their ability to get things done, while enabling them to be future leaders who are focused on building a high growth and inclusive culture.
  • Work with other technical teams across the business for various markets including Historical Horse Racing,
  • Washington CDS, the lottery markets and Class II
  • Own team's operational excellence, including creation of and monitoring of metrics and alarms in a continuous process improvement environment.
  • Manage department resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing to maintain a best-in-class team. Hold regular 1:1s with the team.
  • Direct development and delivery of solutions to meet our portfolio requirements.
  • Identify priorities and communicate process and timeline impacts throughout the decision making process.
  • Analyze various technical solutions and recommend based on technical, feasible, and financial merits.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or related field, or its equivalent is required
  • Gaming experience preferred
  • 5+ years of people management experience, managing a team.
  • Experience partnering with product OR program management teams.
  • Experience managing, motivating, and retaining high-performance team members.
  • Ability to affect positive change, empower people, cultivate product technology visions and innovative solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information and negotiate tradeoffs with a variety of audiences.
  • Experienced decision maker with the ability to articulate product vision and roadmap.
  • 5+ years' experience as a game math developer, subject matter expert, and strategic influencer on the direction of the product design and development.

Our goal is to pay a market competitive salary focusing near the median of our pay ranges. However, final offers for all positions will be based on several factors such as experience level, education, skills, work location, and internal pay equity.
