Indiana Connections Academy (INCA) is a tuition-free, virtual public charter school for students in grades K-12 throughout Indiana. INCA is authorized by Ball State University and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Indiana Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Indiana, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. The school was founded in 2010, as part of the Indiana Department of Education Virtual School Pilot Program, and became a charter school in the fall of 2011. INCA is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, an accrediting division of AdvancED.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Working from your home office in Indiana, the Elementary Math Interventionist will support INCA’s math department's 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. This individual will supervise and coach elementary school students in a virtual environment as they utilize online instruction and materials. Through the use of the telephone, Internet, and various curriculum tools, the Elementary Math Interventionist will communicate regularly with parents, students, and teachers to ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program. 

The Elementary Math Interventionist will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

  • Screen students using INCA’s benchmarking tools;
  • Analyze student learning data on an ongoing and consistent basis;
  • Provide diagnostic, prescriptive, and evaluative services for identified students;
  • Provide individual and small group instruction for identified students;
  • Model effective intervention instruction to classroom teachers;
  • Provide resources for teachers and parents;
  • Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons that will increase student understanding. Work directly with students to implement these alternate lessons;
  • Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction;
  • Communicate with parents, students and other teachers on a regular basis to develop and update intervention goals;
  • Collaborate with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through lessons, that parents have a central point of contact, and that tasks are distributed among the teachers;
  • Keep student records and data up-to-date, including online student and family information, and logging all student and parent contacts;
  • Develop and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”; and
  • Assist with the administration of state tests and other required state exams;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Appropriately certified in Elementary Generalist (1-6) in Indiana
  • Strong multi-cultural skills
  • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS, MS Office programs, and Google Suite)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Customer-focused approach
  • A high degree of flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player track record
  • Willingness to travel on occasion for state testing events (may require overnight travel)
  • Ability to work remotely
  • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication
