Role Summary
The Material Planner for Hardware Support Services is responsible for ensuring the right spare parts and service materials are available in the right quantity, at the right location and right time to support Ericsson's global hardware services and repair operations. You will work as an individual contributor within a cross-functional team spanning Service Area Networks (SAN), Service Area Repair (SAR), logistics, repair centers and finance.
This role focuses on demand and supply planning for service materials, supporting network hardware maintenance and repair, while driving cost efficiency, availability and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Demand and Supply Planning
- Plan and manage spare parts and service material requirements for hardware support contracts and internal service needs.
- Consolidate demand signals from service delivery teams, repair centers, customer support and project forecasts.
- Translate demand into purchase, repair and transfer orders in line with lead times, service levels and inventory targets.
- Monitor supply execution and proactively address shortages, delays or obsolescence risks.
Inventory and Availability Management
- Maintain adequate inventory levels across global and regional warehouses to meet SLA and hardware support commitments.
- Review stock ageing, slow-moving and excess materials; propose actions (rebalancing, refurbishment, scrap, reuse) in line with policies.
- Coordinate material transfers between satellites/locations to optimize availability and minimize logistics cost.
- Ensure master data and parameters (e.g. safety stock, reorder points) are aligned with actual consumption and service plans.
Operational Excellence and Data Integrity
- Use ERP and service logistics systems (e.g. inventory and material management tools) to manage orders, stock and transactions.
- Secure accurate material master data, part classifications and location attributes in planning systems.
- Analyze KPI trends (availability, fill rate, backorders, excess/obsolete, service unit cost) and support corrective actions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in planning processes, reporting and tool usage.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with repair centers, logistics, customer support, engineering, sourcing and finance to align material plans with operational needs.
- Participate in S&OP or hardware services planning forums, providing material availability and risk updates.
- Support new product introductions, service changes and phase-out activities from a material planning perspective.
- Communicate clearly on risks, mitigations and timelines to stakeholders across functions and countries.
Compliance, Sustainability and Cost Control
- Apply Ericsson policies and guidelines related to inventory, scrap, provisioning and financial controls.
- Support sustainability initiatives (e.g. repair, reuse, refurbished stock, scrap optimization) through data-driven material decisions.
- Contribute to accurate cost data for service materials (e.g. standard cost, moving average) by providing reliable inputs and validations.
- Ensure adherence to relevant quality, safety and compliance requirements in material planning and execution.
Join our team
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
