Markets Officer (Temporary - WTB)

Salary: £ 31,537-£33,699 pro rata

Are you a highly organised, customer-focused professional who enjoys working in a varied role where no two days are the same? We are looking for a proactive Markets and Street Trading Officer to help shape and support vibrant markets and street trading activities across Wiltshire.

In this diverse role, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the council’s Market and Street Trading services, acting as a key point of contact for traders, businesses, charities and members of the public. From allocating market pitches and collecting fees to maintaining trader records and ensuring compliance with council regulations, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, successful and well-managed market environments.

In this role, you will maintain accurate databases, liaise with licence holders and help minimise risk through effective record management and monitoring of required documentation. Beyond administration, you will be actively involved in promoting and developing the service and support speciality markets, create engaging advertising campaigns, recruit new traders and work with partners to enhance market locations across the county. You will also handle enquiries and complaints, resolve on-site issues and contribute to maintaining high standards of health, safety and customer service.
