Since 1956, Berns Garden Center and Landscaping has been the heart and soul of delivering exceptional horticulture and landscaping services to our community in Southwest Ohio. With locations in Middletown and Beavercreek, we take pride in cultivating beautiful spaces and fostering meaningful connections with our customers, employees, and community. We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented leader to join our team as the Marketing Manager. In this key role, the marketing manager is responsible for the development and execution of the marketing strategic plan and initiatives to drive brand awareness, customer engagement, and business growth.
Duties Including but not Limited to:
Marketing Strategy and Communication
- Leads the creation and execution of the marketing and communication strategies and initiatives aligned with business goals to promote Berns product and services.
- Collaborates cross functionally with internal teams to communicate marketing and communication plans; ensuring product accuracy, effective campaign timing and gathering feedback for plan improvement.
- Works closely with company leadership to encompass a cohesive vision and messaging across all divisions.
Campaign Management
- Develops, manages, and implements the campaign and event calendar ensuring timely execution and measurable results.
- Collaborates with production and retail teams to estimate product availability and demand.
- Manages the creation and execution of digital and traditional marketing campaigns across multiple channels including social media, the company website and online store, email, signage, and events.
- Manages the systems for digital marketing tools and flows including Shopify, Klaviyo, and social media.
- Manages the relationships with external vendors for outsourced SEO, paid media, and graphic design in alignment with the campaign and event calendar.
- Plans and monitors marketing budget and allocation of resources.
Team Leadership
- Leads, mentors, and delegates tasks to the marketing team.
- Evaluates team performance and provides effective feedback.
- Ensures team growth opportunities.
- Manages the priorities and deadlines of the marketing team.
Data Analytics and Reporting
- Tracks and analyzes campaign performance, customer conversions, ROI, and marketing KPIs.
- Reports data results and recommended areas of improvement to company leadership.
- Analyzes market trends, customer behavior, and relative market activity to align strategy to best practices and identify new strategic opportunities.
Job Environment:
Up to 80% of this job is performed indoors in an office environment with the remaining 20% outside in the garden center, production greenhouse, or landscape client sites. Time spent outside may expose the employee to varying temperatures, humidity, and moderate physical activity. Exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, and related conditions is possible.
QualificationsThis role requires the following experience and skillset:
- 5+ years of experience in marketing or related roles.
- 2+ years of experience in marketing management roles.
- Experience with product marketing with the ability to tie in service offerings.
- Experience with marketing systems and tools such as social media platforms, CRM and content management systems, and digital marketing tools with the ability to effectively track and report on system data.
- Creative with the ability to facilitate innovative strategies and campaigns across multiple channels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey marketing plans clearly to internal and external team members.
- Proven experience planning successful campaigns and events.
- Knowledge of marketing business practices that include marketing research, advertising, technology, and budgeting.
- Familiarity with buyer personas and the customer lifecycle.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to accept feedback and be open minded to change.
- Ability to prioritize with ease of consistently changing priorities.
- A team player able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, leadership, and vendors.
It is preferred that the candidate also has the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications, or related fields.
- Experience working in the greenhouse, garden center, landscaping, or retail industries.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite and Photoshop, Canva, or similar other design and communication tools.
- Experience with Shopify, Klaviyo, Facebook, Instagram, and AI tools.
- Knowledge of horticulture.
- Plant lover.
