Our client, who is a fast-growing technology company in the mobile gaming industry, is looking for a qualified candidate to join their firm.
Market Research and Insights
- Build a structured market intelligence capability to continuously track rankings, genre trends, particularly Puzzle sub-genres such as match, merge, sort, block, and logic, as well as competitors’ user acquisition and creative strategies through market intelligence tools.
- Translate market insights into actionable recommendations, including identifying attractive genre opportunities, benchmarking CPI, retention, and LTV across sub-genres, and determining which mechanics and creative concepts are performing effectively. Use these insights to support decisions on future ideas and products.
- Research and identify effective competitor practices and know-how that can be appropriately applied within the organization.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly market reports for the CEO, including recommendations on portfolio investment priorities.
Data-Driven Investment Decisions
- Develop and own a standardized scale-or-kill framework across the product portfolio, with clearly defined thresholds for CPI, D1/D7/D30 retention, LTV forecasts, and payback periods at each stage from marketability testing and soft launch through scaling. Ensure investment decisions are based on measurable thresholds rather than subjective judgment or sunk costs.
- Allocate and reallocate user acquisition budgets on a weekly and monthly basis across products, markets, and channels based on cohort ROAS and predicted LTV, with overall accountability for blended margin performance.
- Collaborate with the Data team to develop reliable LTV prediction models that support early-stage decision-making based on D3/D7 performance, and regularly assess forecast accuracy against actual results.
User Acquisition Leadership
- Take overall responsibility for media buying performance across major acquisition channels, while proactively testing new channels, solutions, and advertising formats such as influencer marketing, OEM partnerships, and web-to-app initiatives before they reach wider market adoption.
- Operate a high-speed creative testing system with clear targets for concepts tested per week, win rates, and the full cycle from market insight to ideation, production, testing, and replication of winning concepts. Promote the use of AI in creative production and creative performance analysis.
- Leverage non-paid growth opportunities, including ASO, store listing experiments, platform featuring opportunities, and cross-promotion across the internal product portfolio.
- Continuously monitor changes across the digital ecosystem, including advertising network algorithms, attribution frameworks, privacy developments, and app store policies, and proactively adjust strategies accordingly.
Game Portfolio Strategy and Launching
- Develop portfolio strategies by game category, identifying priority Puzzle sub-genres, the appropriate number of titles within each category, and key target markets.
- Own standardized launch playbooks for each game category, covering marketability testing, soft launch, go/no-go decisions, global launch, and scaling. Establish clear quantitative criteria for progressing or stopping at each stage.
- Conduct structured post-launch reviews to continuously improve launch playbooks, increase the proportion of games successfully progressing beyond soft launch, and reduce learning costs per title.
New Game Development Engine
- Partner with Product and R&D teams to build a data-driven ideation process in which new game concepts originate from market research and marketability signals and are validated through creative and CPI testing before significant development investment is made.
- Establish a continuous two-way feedback loop between Marketing and Product throughout the product lifecycle. Feed insights from creative testing and user acquisition data back into product features and content, while ensuring product roadmaps support scalability through elements such as ad placement, events, and meta layers.
- Drive the development engine toward increasing the number of new games that meet scaling criteria each year while reducing the time and cost required to move from initial idea to a go/no-go decision.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop 6 Team Leaders through recruitment, performance management, training, and succession planning across each functional area.
- Set ambitious objectives and ensure strong team commitment by clearly communicating the broader vision, the rationale behind key priorities, and appropriately recognizing achievements.
- Build a culture of data-driven decision-making, rapid experimentation, low-cost failure, and open learning. Ensure smooth collaboration across User Acquisition, Creative, Monetization, and Data teams, as well as with Product, Finance, and Legal functions.
- Ensure strict compliance with relevant platform and app store policies as a non-negotiable operating standard across the department.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in growth or digital product marketing within a highly analytical, fast-paced environment.
- At least 2 years of management experience at Manager level or above, with responsibility for multiple functional teams.
- Proven hands-on experience managing large-scale user acquisition budgets across multiple channels and markets.
- Demonstrated track record in portfolio decision-making, with direct involvement in scaling or discontinuing products based on data. Candidates should be prepared to present a real case during the interview, including the context, decision thresholds, and subsequent results.
- Strong leadership and proven ability to inspire teams to achieve ambitious goals, including experience in setting challenging objectives, building team commitment, and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Strong strategic thinking combined with the ability to engage directly in operational details when required.
- Decisive and data-driven, with the ability to discontinue underperforming products or channels despite significant prior investment, while maintaining full integrity and transparency in reporting both positive and negative results.
- Ability to perform effectively under high pressure and adapt quickly to the fast-changing gaming market.
Preferred Qualifications
