The Manager, Internal Communications reports into the Marketing Organization and is responsible for leading the strategy, planning, execution, and governance of internal communications that align employees with company priorities, reinforce culture, and strengthen organizational clarity.

This is a newly created role for the organization and an opportunity to help build and shape the company’s internal communications function from the ground up. The role will establish processes, standards, channels, and strategies that support a rapidly growing organization while ensuring employees remain informed, aligned, and engaged.

This role works cross-functionally with HR, Marketing, Operations, and other departments to deliver clear, timely, and effective communications that support employee engagement, corporate strategy, organizational alignment, and business initiatives.

The ideal candidate is an extremely strong writer and communications professional who can simplify complex topics, manage multiple communication channels, and ensure messaging consistency across the organization.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure employees are informed, aligned, engaged, and that internal messaging reflects the same clarity, discipline, and brand strength as external communications.
  • Develop and manage the internal communications strategy, editorial calendar, and communication priorities in alignment with company goals.
  • Build and formalize internal communication processes, governance, standards, and workflows for a growing organization.
  • Draft and distribute internal communications across various platforms after following approval processes.
  • Support executive communications including All Hands meetings, leadership updates, company announcements, talking points, presentations, and employee engagement messaging.
  • Maintain and manage internal communication channels including SharePoint, Teams, email, and other internal platforms.
  • Coordinate cross-functional messaging to ensure organizational alignment and communication consistency.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, culture campaigns, and major company milestones.
  • Assist with communication planning and messaging for organizational changes, growth initiatives, and executive announcements.
  • Track communication performance, engagement metrics, and channel effectiveness while providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop visual assets and supporting content.
  • Ensure all messaging reflects company tone, brand standards, and organizational priorities.
  • Support information initiatives including storytelling, organizational updates, and strategic messaging.
  • Partner with HR, Community Engagement, and Recruiting teams on workforce development communications, employee programs, university partnerships, internship visibility, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Establish communication governance standards, review processes, and messaging consistency across departments.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in internal communications, executive communications, marketing communications, public relations, or a related field
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Ability to listen, learn, and simplify complex information into clear messaging
  • Experience working with internal communication platforms and collaboration tools
  • Stellar organizational and project management skills
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with executives and multiple departments
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and unwavering attention to detail
  • Experience supporting executive communications, organizational change, or employee engagement initiatives preferred
  • Experience managing communication strategies, internal campaigns, and editorial planning
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution under pressure

SUCCESS METRICS

  • Successful implementation of internal communication processes, standards, and scalable communication frameworks within the first 90 days.
  • Target 60%+ average email open rates across internal communications
  • Increase participation in internal initiatives by 15% year-over-year
  • 95% of communications delivered on schedule
  • Zero major communication conflicts or inconsistencies across departments
  • Increase engagement across internal platforms including Teams, SharePoint, and company updates
  • Improvement in employee understanding of company priorities and initiatives through engagement feedback
