The Kao Salon Division portfolio includes leading premium haircare brands Goldwell, KERASILK, Oribe & KMS, and presents a unique opportunity for a dynamic Marketing Manager to lead the implementation of the annual marketing plans for Australia and New Zealand. Kao has adopted a flexible approach to the future of work and this role will be based from home, with office space and regular onsite meetings in the Kao Salon Academy (King St, Sydney CBD) with the Kao Salon Team and Kao Salon Clients.
Working within a high performing, hands on Marketing team, this creative and fast-paced Marketing role reports into the Associate Director of Channel Strategy & Marketing. Ideally you are a Marketing Manager or Brand Manager looking for your next development opportunity with experience in managing NPD and forecasting, activating B2B and B2C promotions, PR and social media, with a passion for haircare, personal care, beauty or fashion.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a combination of strategic marketing, creativity and a commercial outlook. This role will be accountable for locally implementing the initiatives outlined by the Americas Regional Team, alongside the ideation and execution of localized brand and awareness programs. There will be close collaboration with the Marketing, Sales and Education teams to coordinate the execution of the Regional initiatives, ensuring accuracy of sales and brand messaging.
You will also be self-motivated, bring strong negotiation skills and be driven to succeed in an everchanging market. You will be able to work autonomously and manage your own KPIs to ensure consistent results. We are ideally seeking a Marketing Manager with a minimum of 5 years + experience.
Core functions of this role will include:
- Lead the execution of global NPDs and Campaigns, as supplied by the Americas Regional Team. This includes sell-in to the internal team and external salon partners, plus design and implementation of launch plans and creation of launch and promotional materials (working with our regional Graphic Designer)
- Manage all aspects of brand image to both salons (B2B) and consumers (N2C), maintaining established global standards.
- Work with our external PR Agency and Regional Comms Manager to seek out, activate and maximize all PR, Social Media, Sponsorship & Comms opportunities for the brands, in accordance with their individual brand strategies and to budget.
- Support and/or lead the development of key customer trade events and programs that drive increased brand awareness and connection to our brands.
- Analyze and develop a strong understanding of what drives customers and their business needs that lead to opportunities to increase sales. These may include:
- The salon retail environment and key drivers and learnings from other industries
- Price positioning of brands
- Salon and business owners/stylists needs and drivers
- Lead team in the total brand planning process from reporting performance, contributing to objectives and strategies, briefing agencies as required (Above The Line, Below The Line, Digital, PR), setting budgets and recommending the annual marketing plan to deliver sales growth, through to full execution of the plan.
- Lead Local Country forecasting of NPD initiatives (AUS & NZ)
Skills & Experience
- Self-motivated and driven individual that can work as part of a team and is goal orientated.
- Experience as a proven leader of successful marketing teams or agencies across brand, digital and communications preferred
- Excellent presentation & communication skills and the ability to influence across the organization.
- Hair/beauty/personal care/fashion category experience would be highly advantageous but not essential.
- Business acumen and financial agility
- Strong software experience and use with MS Office (intermediate to advanced Excel) and a passion for marketing analytics.
