Purpose of the position:
SCMP is looking for a detail-oriented and efficiency-driven Marketing Graphics Designer to join our Operations team in the Advertising and Marketing Solutions department. In this role, you will be the backbone of our ad execution, focusing on design tasks. You will turn raw concepts and client specs into precise, print- and digital-ready layouts, ensuring every newspaper ad, print material, and artwork format meets exact industry and production standards.
In this role, you will:
- Print & Layout Formatting: Produce, adjust, and finalize layouts for newspaper advertisements, print media, and collateral according to strict grid systems and publisher specifications.
- Artwork Preparation & Processing: Re-size, re-format, and touch up artwork to fit multi-platform dimensions and technical requirements (bleed, crop marks, color profiles, resolution).
- Operational Execution: Manage a high volume of daily design requests, ensuring tight deadline compliance with zero tolerance for formatting errors.
- Asset Management & Pre-flight Checks: Perform technical quality checks (Pre-flight) on artwork files before release; maintain organized digital asset libraries and production archives.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with the project team, sales, and production teams to clarify technical requirements and resolve layout discrepancies quickly.
Skills and Experience that will lead to success:
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign).
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) for basic layout cross-overs and internal administrative tasking.
- At least 3 years of experience in graphic design, print production, ad operations, or publishing (newspaper/magazine layout experience is a strong plus).
- Strong understanding of print production processes, prepress setups, color modes (CMYK vs. RGB), standard image resolutions (300 DPI vs. web resolution), and typography.
- Exceptional eye for layout alignment, spacing, and technical accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight, non-negotiable print deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a team-first operational mindset.
Work location will be at Causeway Bay office.
