The Role

Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Fine Arts (CFA) is searching for a Marketing & Communications Manager to join their team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing marketing and promotional content creation for a variety of School of Music performances as well as communications promoting the School of Music itself.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Primary responsibility for promoting all School of Music ensemble performances via digital and print media channels.

  • Oversee development and production of printed program books for all School of Music performances including student recitals.

  • Maintain and update the School of Music website as needed or directed by the Website Steering Committee, faculty and staff.

  • Oversee the School of Music’s social media presence to produce fresh content and highlight relevant academic activities and performances.

  • Managing a team of student assistants who assist in creating and updating event listings, designing, producing and distributing promotional posters, creating electronic newsletters, making social media posts, and creating, editing and producing printed programs.

  • Writing marketing copy to promote events as needed.

  • Research and write short articles highlighting timely School of Music news items as needed.

  • Collaborating with the College of Fine Arts and other University departments on joint marketing projects and performance event coordination.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable certification

  • At least 5 years of marketing experience or relevant field

  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, Excel, and general web design principles

  • Understanding of production timelines and how to manage a team to achieve work by non-negotiable deadlines

You should demonstrate:

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Very strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities to make sure that all tasks are completed.

  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and interact with campus community and external stakeholders.

Additional Information:

  • This is a part-time (approximately 25 hours/week) non-exempt position. It is expected to last from February 24 - April 11, 2025
