Resource Innovations is seeking an Energy Efficiency Market Engagement Lead to join our growing team in California. As an Energy Efficiency Market Engagement Lead with Resource Innovations, you will lead field outreach to and build and maintain relationships with Commercial and Industrial (C&I) demand response aggregators and customers in the Los Angeles area. The Energy Efficiency Market Engagement Lead will also play a crucial role in supporting demand response program operations, training with aggregators, and collaborate with utility clients and partners to effectively deliver on key metrics. As an Energy Efficiency Market Engagement Lead with Resource Innovations, you must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and apply your excellent time management skills. To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience in field engagement and a passion for cultivating and maintaining lasting partnerships that create value for our organization and the communities we serve. This role will also support program management responsibilities in collaboration with other team members. The ideal candidate will have experience with both field outreach to demand response aggregators as well as program management experience. This role will be approximately 75% outreach and 25% program management and support activities.

Training and Capacity Building:

  • Recruit, support, and maintain strong relationships with demand response aggregators and customers to hit C&I demand response program goals. Train and build capacity for C&I demand response aggregators and increase their expertise in delivering demand response energy savings based on program requirements and client expectations. The travel expectations for this role are > 50% in the field. This includes Los Angeles, California and surrounding areas.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Support collaboration with C&I demand response aggregators and customers to improve performance, address issues, and promote success. In coordination with the larger team, recommend and implement process improvements to enhance overall efficiency and project results.

Issue Resolution:

  • Work closely with C&I aggregators and customers, internal and external program teams, and utility client to resolve issues quickly and maintain strong relationships for future projects. Experience with demand response programs and issues that arise for demand response aggregators and customers will help streamline issue resolution.

Program Management:

  • Regularly collect and analyze feedback and data from C&I demand response aggregators, report to program staff, and use insights to help Resource Innovations continuously improve its programs.
  • Support weekly/monthly reporting and other administrative tasks.
  • Function as a cooperative and cohesive member of the project team.  
  • Establish and maintain a professional rapport with clients and partners, including identifying and anticipating needs and proposing solutions.
  • Coordinate across teams internally and externally on client deliverables, and present to different stakeholders, when appropriate.
  • Continuously assess program progress to goal and develop innovative and creative solutions to new issues and/or market dynamics.
  • Develop, manage, provide excellent customer service, and foster partnerships with clients, end-use utility customers, aggregators, delivery team members, program partners and other industry stakeholders.
  • Manage client expectations, satisfaction, communications, and resolve and/or escalate client issues in collaboration with other team members.
  • Track multiple tasks or project deadlines and alert program manager in advance of conflicts. 
  • Collaboratively develop, present, and implement recommendations to enhance go-to-market strategies and operational efficiencies.
  • Work independently and in teams to conduct tasks related to program delivery and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Bring a positive, action-oriented attitude to the workplace.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Must be located in California
  • 3+ years’ experience in energy sector, energy management, sustainability, or related field, ideally with outreach experience for demand response programs working with aggregators.
  • Ability to travel at least 25-50% in Los Angeles, CA area.
  • A solid understanding of utility demand response programs and ideally experience working with C&I demand response aggregators and customers, and relationships with aggregators that could be brought to the program.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as familiarity with SharePoint, Asana, and Monday.com. 
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and solution-oriented attitude. 
  • Commitment to high-quality customer service and the ability to address customer issues/concerns.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with a variety of team members while balancing schedules, budgets, and dynamic project demands.
  • Experience troubleshooting problems and recommending solutions 
  • Ability to identify process improvements and communicate plans for improvement 
  • The position requires a valid US driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle for travel to connect with demand response aggregators, customers, and key partners throughout the defined service area. Mileage for work-related travel will be reimbursed.
  • B.S. or B.A. preferred- energy, environment, public policy, or technical field desired.
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to think critically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, verbal, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with ability to build trust and rapport with individuals and business from diverse backgrounds.

Compensation & Benefits

Resource Innovations offers competitive salaries based on a candidate's skills, experience and qualifications for the position.  The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $74,448 - 118,000. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.  The stated salary represents the expected compensation for this position. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education and location.
