The Market Development Manager is responsible for developing attractive growth opportunities in Focus Segments through the identification and assessment of current or emerging application needs where a Nordson BKG Americas' offering can be positioned through leveraging of strategic advantages. The MDM builds a business strategy through alignment with Focus Segments and owns the execution of the growth plan in addition to commercial responsibility for assigned strategic accounts. The MDM will also be responsible for investigating potential new application areas in specific to BKG focus segments and creating and executing a plan to expand into these applications. This work will generate incremental revenue by successfully validating the divisions’ fit in targeted market segments.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Using NBS Next Quads & Quartiles data, historical information and either personal or a team member experience, fill in and maintain the required Account Plan for each of your assigned Top Customers. 
  • Log all opportunities in the Sales Pipeline tool and update information on a weekly basis such that accurate forecast information is available for management to review at any given time.
  • Proactively meet customer needs with Top Products, and where necessary, creatively migrate customer needs from Bottom to Top Products
  • Proactively seek and identify growth opportunities in UWP applications. Fulfill these growth opportunities with our Top Products
  • Serve as Center of Knowledge for Customer UWP trials.
  • Participate in Team meetings and share information about your Top Customers, new applications, new competitive information, new trends, etc.
  • Actively seek information about our competitors’ products and services and feed back to our Product Line Management team. Use the information to develop differentiating value-added propositions.
  • Actively look for ways to simplify your tasks. Beginning with customer need, proactively guide the customer towards a more simplified, less complex solution that will provide less complexity in our manufacturing, reducing lead times.
  • Define and implement tactics to increase our company’s market share in UWP.
  • Prepare and maintain strategic market development plan for region.
  • Achieve target growth rates
  • Identifies and leverages synergies between unmet potential and current customer needs and PPS UWP product portfolio and strategic initiatives, resulting in increased margin, customer and market share.
  • Responsible for implementing strategic business plan leveraging Top Product strengths to increase market penetration and share in accordance with goals and objectives.
  • Serve as practical expert for relevant emerging application, industry and technology trends.
  • Maintaining an assigned group of Customers to meet and exceed the company’s revenue and margin targets.
  • Actively drive and eliminate complexity in every aspect of the role, from customer need to actual offering.
  • Various activities and projects as may be assigned by management.

Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Technical Field. Preferably Engineering
  • At least 5-7 years of experience with a proven track record in managing a set of defined projects or accounts.
  • Minimum 5 years with a major OEM
  • Established reputation as subject matter expert in plastic processing and UWP.
  • Extensive current contacts and close relationships with processors.
  • Familiar with international business practices with a proven track record of managing capital projects or
  • Structured, organized, and able to identify the “20%” efforts that yield “80% of results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly proactive with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
