The energy transition is the biggest infrastructure buildout in human history. Modo Energy is the data platform at the centre of it.
We build the benchmarking, forecasting, and valuation tools that the world's most serious energy investors, developers, and operators depend on to make decisions. If a battery gets financed, built, or traded anywhere in the world, there's a good chance Modo data was in the room.
Founded in 2019, we're 90+ people across London, New York, Sydney, and Madrid; $30M Series B, AI-native, and moving fast.
This is a rare chance to join a category-defining company at the moment it's scaling globally.
We're hiring our founding Market Advisors to build Modo Energy's Advisory Services team in the US.
Most of our 200+ clients get Modo Energy's data, forecasts, and research through a subscription. Advisory Services takes that same platform a step further, into the decisions themselves: whether an acquisition is worth the price, whether to build at two hours or eight, and which markets to move into next. Those are the questions clients bring us, and Advisory Services answers them.
The Advisory Services team started in Europe, with a proven model: a growing book of work with investors, lenders, and developers active in European battery markets. We're already seeing demand for this work in the US, without an Advisory Services team here to meet it. That's what you'd be building. You'll work as part of a global Advisory Services team alongside the London-based team.
The job runs from the first conversation to the final answer. You find the work and win it, then build the revenue case yourself and stand behind it in front of the investor or lender relying on it. The European Advisory Services team and Modo Energy's US research analysts are there to draw on, but the work is yours to own and defend.
This role is based in New York and reports to the Head of Advisory Services in London.
What You'll Be Doing- Provide commercial due diligence and transaction support for clients buying, selling, or raising finance against batteries and clean energy assets.
- Originate advisory work in the US market: build a pipeline from Modo Energy's client base and the wider market, qualify it, price it, and convert it.
- Turn Modo Energy's data, forecasts, and research into tailored outputs built for a specific client and a specific decision, rather than generic output.
- Do the analysis yourself. Build the revenue case for an asset, then open it up to an investment committee, a lender, or the counterparty's advisers: the assumptions, the sensitivities, and what changes if they take a different view.
- Present your analysis directly to clients, banks, and counterparties, and represent Modo Energy at US industry events.
- Own projects end to end, from first conversation through to the client presentation.
- Build a working knowledge of storage and clean energy economics across ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, MISO, SPP, NYISO, and ISO-NE, rather than specialising in one.
- You know the US power and storage markets well enough to hold a view in front of a client. We'd look for time spent advising on it — commercial due diligence, transaction advisory, or consulting — or operating in it, at an IPP, fund, optimizer, developer, or utility.
- You can win work, not only deliver it. We'd look for a track record of engagements, mandates, or deals you brought in yourself, and relationships with investors, lenders, and developers you could pick up again here.
- You build and present models to investment committees and lender meetings. We'd look for analysis you've owned and defended in the room, and the depth to take an assumption apart under challenge and show exactly what it does to the answer.
- You do your best work with freedom and responsibility. Modo Energy runs on both. We'd look for someone who has gone and found the opportunity rather than waiting for one to be handed over, or who has felt slowed down by sign-off and process somewhere larger.
- You want to build something. The platform, the brand, and the clients are already here; the advisory practice isn't, and we'd look for someone who wants to be one of the names people in US energy know, and to build a career here as it grows.
- Able to start within a reasonable timeframe and authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
- You're deep in the assets themselves — batteries, wind, solar, or data centre load. We'd look for work you've run on investment analysis, offtake negotiation, or risk quantification.
- You're visible in the US energy market. Writing, speaking, panels, or a following that means people recognise your name before you introduce yourself.
- You've been part of something being built. A new desk, product, office, or service line, where the playbook didn't exist yet.
- Base salary range: $110,000–$170,000 per year, depending on experience
- The salary range listed reflects industry benchmarks for this role. Modo Energy's policy is to pay top of personal market - if you're exceptional, we'll make it work
- Equity
- 25 days PTO plus 10 paid Holidays annually
- 100% employer paid medical, dental and vision coverage
- 401(k) with matching
