Job Description

Wise is expanding its Assets product into stocks and ETFs!

We’re looking for a Market Abuse Operations Specialist in Tallinn to help us build and run Wise’s Market Abuse monitoring process for our Assets product. This role will help make sure we have the right first-line control in place to monitor, review, and escalate potential Market Abuse risks as we grow.

This is a new area for Wise, so we need someone who can help set up the control from the ground up. You’ll own the day-to-day Market Abuse process, help configure the rules that trigger alerts, work closely with our surveillance vendor, and use feedback from Compliance to improve what gets escalated.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own the daily Market Abuse monitoring process for Wise Assets.
  • Review Market Abuse alerts and decide what needs to be escalated to 2nd line Compliance.
  • Help configure and refine alert rules, thresholds, and typologies with our surveillance vendor.
  • Build a strong feedback loop between Operations, Compliance, Product, Engineering, and the vendor.
  • Use feedback from Compliance to improve escalation quality and reduce unnecessary noise.
  • Create clear SOPs, evidence standards, case documentation, and escalation guidance.
  • Track alert volumes, outcomes, trends, and control issues.
  • Help other team members understand the process as the team grows.
  • Use data and operational insight to improve the control over time.
  • Support wider Grow / Assets Operations BAU work when Market Abuse alert volumes allow.
  • Balance daily operational tasks with time-sensitive Market Abuse alerts and escalations.

Qualifications

  • You're placed in Tallinn, and have a valid right to work here.
  • You have previous experience in Market Abuse, trade surveillance, compliance monitoring, or a similar brokerage / investment operations role.
  • You have experience with daily monitoring and designing or refining alerts.
  • You understand Market Abuse risks such as insider dealing and market manipulation.
  • You’re comfortable reviewing trading activity and making judgement-based decisions.
  • You can turn a new regulatory requirement into a practical operational process.
  • You’re analytical, hands-on, and comfortable using data to make decisions.
  • You can work closely with Compliance, Product, Engineering, Operations, and external vendors.
  • You’re comfortable wearing multiple hats and building something new.

Nice to haves:

  • 5+ years of experience in financial services.
  • Experience in brokerage operations, such as best execution, reconciliations, client money, or corporate actions.
  • Experience with surveillance tools such as Eventus, Nasdaq SMARTS, SteelEye, Actimize, or similar.
  • Knowledge of MAR, MiFID II, STOR processes, or FCA / EU market conduct expectations.
  • Experience working in a fast-moving product or startup environment.

Sounds like the next step for you? Apply latest by 21st of August EOD by submitting us your CV in English.
