Where Troubleshooting Skills Meet Real Aircraft Systems ✈️
Every aircraft in the sky depends on components that were tested, verified, and proven reliable before they ever left the factory floor. Behind that reliability is someone who knows how to trace a failure to its actual cause,  not just patch the symptom.

At Universal Avionics, our Manufacturing Test & Troubleshooting Engineers are that person. You'll work hands-on with circuit cards, cable assemblies, and test systems, solving problems that directly affect the safety and performance of avionics used around the world.

If you'd rather find the real cause of a failure than just clear the fault code, we'd love to meet you.

🔷The Opportunity
At Universal Avionics, we develop advanced avionics, enhanced vision systems, and intelligent cockpit technologies that improve aviation safety and situational awareness worldwide.

For more than 40 years, Universal Avionics has been a trusted innovator in aerospace technology, supporting commercial airlines, business aviation, cargo operations, and special mission aircraft around the globe. As part of Elbit Systems, we combine the agility of a collaborative engineering organization with the strength and global reach of a leading aerospace and defense company.

Our Tucson, Arizona site is home to manufacturing, test engineering, and cross-functional operations teams building and supporting these next-generation avionics systems, an environment where hands-on problem-solvers work closely with design and quality engineering, and where the fixes you make on the floor directly shape product reliability.

As a Manufacturing Test & Troubleshooting Engineer, you'll be the technical link between Operations, Test Engineering, Process Engineering, Quality, and Design,  troubleshooting hardware, software, and test issues, driving root cause investigations, and helping make sure every unit that leaves the floor meets the standard it was designed to.

🔷What You'll Do

  • Troubleshoot circuit card assemblies, cable/harness builds, box-build systems, and production test equipment down to true root cause,  not just the symptom
  • Partner with Test and Process Engineering to strengthen test procedures, troubleshooting guides, and work instructions
  • Mentor and support technicians in real time, sharing electronics fundamentals and troubleshooting technique
  • Support New Product Introduction as designs move from prototype into full production
  • Track yield, test failure trends, and recurring defects to get ahead of production issues
  • Redline drawings, schematics, and work instructions when documentation doesn't match reality
  • Contribute to Material Review Board and Configuration Control Board discussions that shape how products get built
  • Support first article inspection, validation, and verification for assemblies and test fixtures

🔷What We're Looking For

  • Strong, practical troubleshooting instincts across electronic and electro-mechanical systems
  • Comfortable reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation,  and catching when something's wrong
  • Hands-on experience with test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and similar tools)
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field,  or 7+ years of equivalent hands-on experience in electronics or aerospace manufacturing
  • Clear communicator who can explain technical issues to engineers, technicians, and non-technical stakeholders alike
  • Bonus: experience in high-reliability, regulated, or aerospace/defense manufacturing (AS9100, ISO9001, FAA), IPC/WHMA-A-620 or J-STD-001 certification, or NPI support experience

🔷Why Employees Love Working Here

  • Work directly on systems that fly in aircraft around the world,  your fixes have real impact
  • Solve genuinely difficult, hands-on technical problems, not routine maintenance
  • Close collaboration with Design, Test, Process, and Quality Engineering,  no working in a silo
  • Mentor and help shape the next generation of manufacturing technicians
  • 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off
  • Be part of a global aerospace and defense organization (Elbit Systems) with the feel of a close-knit engineering team

🔷What Success Looks Like

  • Root causes get identified and resolved, not just patched, with recurring defects trending down
  • Work instructions and test procedures are clear enough that technicians don't have to guess
  • Technicians grow more capable because you took the time to teach, not just fix
  • New products move from engineering into production without avoidable rework
  • Strong working relationships across Operations, Engineering, and Quality
