We are seeking an accomplished and highly influential Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) Expert Scientist/Engineer to provide strategic technical leadership for Agilent's chromatography particle and column manufacturing technologies. This role serves as the organization's leading technical authority for particle synthesis, particle modification, stationary phase chemistry, and their successful translation into robust commercial manufacturing processes.
A critical element of this position is leading the industrialization of next-generation chromatography particles and stationary phases. Working closely with R&D, Product Management, and Manufacturing, you will guide new particle technologies from laboratory development through scale-up, technology transfer, process validation, and commercial launch, ensuring innovative products can be manufactured reliably, consistently, and economically at scale.
As a senior technical leader within MSAT, you will shape manufacturing strategies, drive process innovation, and solve the organization's most complex scientific and manufacturing challenges while influencing the long-term technology roadmap for Agilent's chromatography consumables portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership & Strategy: Serve as the organization's subject matter expert for chromatography particle technologies, leading technical strategy, manufacturing roadmaps, and investment decisions for future particle and stationary phase platforms.
- Commercialization & Manufacturing Excellence: Lead scale-up, technology transfer, and New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts, ensuring new chromatography media and particle technologies are successfully commercialized and integrated into global manufacturing.
- Process Innovation & Problem Solving: Drive process optimization, manufacturing improvements, and resolution of complex technical challenges involving particle synthesis, surface chemistry, quality, yield, and performance using advanced scientific and statistical tools.
- Cross-Functional Leadership & Capability Building: Partner across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Management to accelerate innovation while mentoring scientists and establishing global technical standards and best practices.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Surface Science, Colloid Science, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- 8+ years relevant experience for entry to this level.
- Extensive experience demonstrating technical expertise and leadership in particle manufacturing, materials science, or chromatography technologies.
- Deep scientific expertise in one or more of the following: Silica particle synthesis Particle modification and surface chemistry Porous material design and characterization Chromatography media development Materials processing and scale-up Chemical manufacturing technology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience scaling particle technologies from laboratory and pilot operations into commercial manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated leadership of New Product Introduction (NPI) programs involving novel chromatography particles, bonded phases, or separation media.
- Strong understanding of relationships between particle properties, manufacturing processes, and chromatographic performance.
- Experience developing manufacturing control strategies for complex chemical or materials synthesis processes.
- Track record of bringing innovative materials technologies from concept through successful commercial launch.

This job has a full time weekly schedule. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
