The Manufacturing Project Engineer is responsible for leading and managing engineering projects within a manufacturing environment, including equipment installation, process improvements, facility modifications, production line expansions, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role partners closely with Production, Maintenance, Planning, Quality, Safety, Finance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives. The Manufacturing Project Engineer provides technical leadership to improve productivity, quality, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency while supporting long-term growth initiatives.

  • Lead manufacturing and capital projects from planning through implementation, ensuring completion on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate activities across Production, Maintenance, Planning, Quality, Safety, Finance, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, facility layout changes, and production line expansions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes while providing technical leadership on product and production issues.
  • Develop and implement rework, retrofit, and equipment improvement solutions to support operational objectives.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure compliance with company financial processes.
  • Ensure all projects and processes meet safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive performance improvements in OEE, throughput, equipment reliability, labor productivity, quality, and waste reduction.
  • Support business initiatives by managing multiple projects and providing engineering expertise across departments.
  • Mentor co-op students and support the development of engineering and operations team members.
Qualifications
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, and production systems.
  • Ability to analyze data and drive process improvements.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of budgeting, capital expenditures, and financial controls.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, safety standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering/project management software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • 0-2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience managing capital projects, process improvements, and equipment installations.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement initiatives is preferred.
