Onsite | Full-Time | Permanent 

Hourly $25.00-$30.00


Summary of Responsibilities:

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Vander-Bend Manufacturing will work with the Manufacturing Engineering Department supporting Operations of product, process and manufacturing activities. This is an entry level position in the Manufacturing in the Engineering Department.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct engineering support to Manufacturing Engineers and Operations functional groups.

• Perform time studies on manufacturing processes and identify process improvements.

• Update shop floor facility layouts.

• Update/edit Kebrite instructions (shop floor labor ticket software).

• Assist in the investigation of Non-Conformances and shop floor problems.

• Update Manufacturing Documents.

• Perform data entry.

• Other duties as assigned.

Financial Responsibilities:

May recommend expenditures for approval by Manufacturing Engineers or Management.

Interactions:

Interacts closely, primarily with Manufacturing Engineers and Operations functional groups.

Decision Making:

Works on problems of minor scope, using initiative to recommend problem resolution or improvements. Any improvement activities are subject to a Manufacturing Engineer review and approval.

Supervision  ReceivesSupervision Receives

Receives supervision from the Manufacturing Engineering and Continuous Improvement Manager, with daily (or weekly) guidance and direction from a Manufacturing Engineer.  

Requirements

  

Education and Experience:

A student, attending post high school education, actively working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or closely related major.

Knowledge / Skills:

Some or all of the following completed coursework:

• 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) – SolidWorks

• Product or Mechanical Design

• Mechanics of Materials

 Some or all of the following knowledge and abilities:

• Knowledge of one or more CAD systems

• Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques (machining, sheet metal, welding)

• Knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft Office products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Ability to perform data entry

• Not afraid to ask questions and alert others of problems when they occur

• Expected to search for work from Manufacturing Engineers when finished with normal activities

Skills Required

  • Currently enrolled in post-high-school education and actively pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related major
  • Completed coursework in 3D computer-aided design, preferably SolidWorks
  • Completed coursework in product or mechanical design
  • Completed coursework in mechanics of materials
  • Knowledge of one or more CAD systems
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques, including machining, sheet metal, and welding
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to perform data entry
