Twin Disc, Incorporated is a global leader in designing and manufacturing power transmission and propulsion solutions for marine and industrial applications. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes that support safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. This position works closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance to optimize production methods, support new product introductions, and drive operational excellence initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain efficient manufacturing processes, tooling, work instructions, and production standards.
- Analyze manufacturing workflows and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and throughput.
- Support machining, assembly, and testing operations through process development and troubleshooting.
- Lead continuous improvement projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids to improve product quality and operational efficiency.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by developing manufacturing routings, process plans, and production readiness requirements.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process and quality issues.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability and cost-effective product designs.
- Evaluate and recommend capital equipment investments, automation solutions, and technology improvements.
- Develop and maintain process documentation including work instructions, process flows, PFMEAs, control plans, and standard operating procedures.
- Monitor key manufacturing metrics and recommend actions to improve performance.
- Support plant safety initiatives and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and training to production personnel as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
- 2-5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a machining, assembly, or heavy industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience supporting CNC machining, gear manufacturing, power transmission products, or precision assembly operations is a plus.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machining, assembly, and production systems.
- Proficiency with CAD software and manufacturing documentation.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and quality improvement methods.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and waste reduction principles.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing data analysis tools preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Frequent walking on the production floor.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use standard office equipment and engineering software.
- Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and moving equipment.
- Occasional travel may be required for supplier visits, training, or project support.
