About The Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer at Artifex Interior Systems, you will play a key role in leading new product introductions from quotation through to successful launch. Working across engineering, operations, quality, commercial teams and external suppliers, you will ensure manufacturing processes, equipment and production systems are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
This is a hands-on role where you will drive continuous improvement, support operational performance and help develop robust manufacturing solutions for complex automotive products. You'll have the opportunity to influence product design for manufacture, introduce new technologies and contribute directly to the success of customer programmes within a fast-paced automotive environment.
Key Responsibilities
You will manage multiple new product and process launches, developing detailed project plans aligned to customer milestones and ensuring delivery against cost, timing and quality targets. The role involves coordinating tooling and equipment suppliers, overseeing installation activities and signing off new manufacturing equipment through capability studies and production trials.
You will develop pre-production and production documentation including PFMEAs, control plans and standard operating instructions, while supporting quality teams with root cause analysis and customer concerns. Working closely with design and commercial functions, you will contribute to design-for-manufacture activities and accurate costing exercises. You will also identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, manage engineering changes through the change request process and support day-to-day manufacturing operations as required.
About You
You are a degree-qualified Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineer with significant experience in a manufacturing engineering role, ideally within a first-tier automotive supplier operating in a JIT environment. You have a proven track record of delivering new product launches and developing efficient manufacturing processes. Experience working with OEMs, lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies will be highly valued, alongside strong project management capabilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
You are comfortable working with manufacturing systems and IT-driven production environments and are confident collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers. Knowledge of headliner manufacturing, experience supporting aftermarket supply and familiarity with AutoCAD would be advantageous. You are a proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast-moving environment and is motivated by continuous improvement and operational excellence
