What You Will Do
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will lead projects and initiatives to resolve key manufacturing and process issues and achieve site goals and objectives. You will oversee the Manufacturing Engineering and Tooling Design teams, developing effective engineering systems, processes and procedures while supporting production in key operational areas. The role will also drive CAPEX projects, automation initiatives and continuous improvement activities to improve productivity, quality, delivery and cost performance.

How You Will Do It
  • Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Support Production and Quality teams with problem-solving and root-cause analysis activities.
  • Prioritise team activities based on business needs and operational benefit.
  • Support strategic decision-making and implementation of key initiatives.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Kaizen projects.
  • Identify, evaluate and deliver CAPEX improvement projects.
  • Improve process lead times through automation and manufacturing process optimisation.
  • Support NPI activities including PFMEA, Control Plans and PPAP.
  • Identify skills and capability gaps within the engineering team.
  • Monitor and communicate departmental KPIs, engineering activities and project progress.
  • Ensure site health and safety goals are achieved.
  • Manage departmental budgets and provide technical support and training to production teams.
What We Are Looking ForRequired
  • HND/HNC or NVQ Level 4 in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Lean/Six Sigma knowledge with experience delivering Kaizen and continuous improvement projects.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of manufacturing processes and improvement techniques.
  • Experience in quality assurance and capacity planning.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership and communication skills.
  • Computer literacy including Minitab, Excel and Access.
  • Experience within high-volume manufacturing environments.
Beneficial

  • University degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles and maintenance practices
  • Experience delivering operational improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience managing capital equipment or site improvement projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively across multiple functions
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and quality requirements in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Experience leading engineering teams in a plant manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies
  • Experience in a highly regulated or complex manufacturing environment
  • Project management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems and asset reliability programs
