Building reusable rockets to empower science and exploration.
The Role
Develop and own manufacturing and test processes for 3D-printed and machined Aeon-R engine components. Improve manufacturability, assembly, quality, lead time, and cost. Collaborate with technicians, suppliers, and supply chain; write work instructions, perform root-cause analysis, manage vendor quality, and lead cross-functional projects to deliver flight hardware.
Summary Generated by Built In

At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team:

The Propulsion Manufacturing Integrated Components team manufactures and tests critical Aeon-R engine components including manifolds, gimbal assemblies, brackets, orifices, etc. The team ensures on-time delivery of propulsion subassemblies to the Aeon-R engine program while driving continuous improvements in safety, quality, reliability, lead time, and cost.

After successfully delivering hardware and developing processes for the first Aeon-R flight engines, we're entering a critical phase: ramping production while concurrently developing next-generation engines to make Terran R the most manufacturable high-performing rocket to date. This role requires a high degree of autonomy and initiative to provide design feedback, pioneer advanced manufacturing methods, and deliver flight hardware for integration and testing.

About the Role:

  • Own and develop manufacturing and test processes for 3D printed and machined Aeon-R engine components and subassemblies
  • Drive continuous improvements in manufacturability, assembly, and delivery of components, ensuring hardware meets all aspects of the intended design
  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners and technicians by writing work instructions, conducting root cause analysis, resolving issues, and tracking and reducing lead time
  • Partner with supply chain to develop and manage external supplier relationships, ensuring on-time hardware delivery
  • Work hands-on in a fast-paced, often novel, high-mix environment while collaborating cross-functionally and driving projects to completion
  • Build a strong manufacturing team and lead projects directly and cross-functionally

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field and 2+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering or a related role.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of propulsion systems, mechanics of materials, and thermal-fluid systems to investigate and resolve hardware defects
  • Ability to work with and train technicians in a hands-on hardware environment, writing work instructions, and process plans for complex assemblies, and drive implementation of improvement and corrective actions
  • Vendor management experience including selection, defect disposition, and quality management
  • Proficiency with additive/subtractive manufacturing, precision inspection, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), and FEA using Ansys or similar tools
  • Experience with tooling design using Siemens NX or other CAD tools, including conceptualization, modeling, analysis, and fabrication

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience in propulsion development programs
  • Experience transitioning products from development to high-volume production
  • Hands-on experience with CNC machining, welding, and high-pressure testing
  • Experience writing formal process specifications and manufacturing standards

At Relativity Space, we are committed to transparency and fairness in our compensation practices. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
Compensation is only one part of our total rewards package. Relativity Space offers competitive salary and equity, a generous PTO and sick leave policy, parental leave, an annual learning and development stipend, and more! To see some of the benefits & perks we offer, please visit here.
