In this position... 

The Mechanical Design Follow Up Engineer will specialize in and deliver Final Assembly Tooling to GVOSS intent. They will provide a consistent level of proficiency required to implement engineering standards, capture and deploy lessons learned. Foster/mentor FAE engineers and tooling integrators through program tool design to ensure all production tooling meets GVOSS intent and is appropriate for the respective application. They will be expected to maintain process and launch expertise in all tooling and process development.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Review weekly tool design progress for adherence to GVOSS and industry engineering standards
  • Coach and advise integrators on design change requirements to meet both product and process intent
  • Liaison with program ME's and supervisors to update GVOSS for tooling and productivity improvements
  • Drive tier 2 involvement and tier 2 sign-off during design phase to ensure intended component application
  • Act as SPOC for Ford mechanical engineering design sign-off with integrators
  • Own the Ford to Furnish component selection process to ensure components are applicable to the application and meet all program timing
  • Lead mechanical engineering and tooling standards within Final Assembly
  • Drive continuous tool improvement and focus on cost efficiencies
  • Manage required GVOSS updates and Tier 2 campaign processes
  • Supervise VTTO process to ensure required parts are captured for tool validation and that it meets integrator/program timing
  • Liaison with existing Vendor Interface Specialists to identify opportunities for process standardization
  • Domestic travel 25% of time to support NA plants
  • International travel may be required
Qualifications

You'll have...

 

  • Bachelor of Science - Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience. 

  • 1 or more years of Microsoft Office experience to include Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Data driven with strong problem-solving techniques

  • Experience with automotive tooling standards, operator interface tooling development, automotive processes, and facilities integration

  • Experience with automotive program launch cadence

  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement

  • 5 years of experience with GVOSS or other automotive equipment standards, operator interface tooling development, automotive processes, and facilities integration

  • Automotive Project Management skills

  • Virtual manufacturing tools experience

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Familiar with automotive Final Assembly processes, tooling, and equipment

  • Strong leadership and proven history managing multiple programs with a multi-disciplined team

  • Working relationship with Final Assembly integrators

This position is a salary grade 6-8  and ranges from $72,480-162,120.., 
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
